Ah! Glad it wasn't something I was doing wrong! I was so frustrated with dolphins (both named and unnamed) being the only thing to keep disappearing out of my "zoo" no matter how hard I tried. I also was doing all I could to make sure they stayed alive, weren't escaping, weren't drowning, had played with items, etc. but they would still disappear after I left the immediate area.

how was this resolved? im having the exact same issue on a 1.15.2 realm. we have been to like 20 villagers and none of them have any villagers. we tried curing a zombie villager and as soon as he changed into a villager he despawned right infront of us, same thing happens when we try to spawn 1 in with a spawn egg. just vanishes right infront of us. when we started the realm we found a village straight away and there were no villagers so any help would be appreciated.
Actually nevermind, think it was the new optifine alpha thing. i installed that last night and it wasnt doing this last night so i didnt think that was it
i have, its vanilla in the screenshots and removed the texture packs from the minecraft folder

our server says that 1 person is logged on, its saying my friends name now but sometimes it says "null". not his name and not my name so idk. my friend tried to switch the worlds and all that but nothing worked. i use to run a realm server and the last backup was 1075 days ago and i was able to download the backup but my friend couldnt download the backup on this new server that is having issues.

My friend and I were both kicked from the server at the same time and we are on different providers. Its been 2 days now and we still can't connect, it crashes everytime we try join the realm and sends us back to the launcher. He payed for the server the day before this started. Its very disappointing that we just got the server and now we have to wait for the next update to use it.
im not sure, i just went into the minecraft folder and that was the crash log from when it kicked me from the server. and since i havnt been able to join
So far, my named dolphins have not despawned on this build. Unnamed dolphins, fish, and squid do despawn, but I assume they are all meant to. Named dolphins are now remaining, including trips to the nether, but I have only done a little bit of testing.
