This affects whether you can pick up items with hoppers through mud blocks - which affects farms. For the more technical minecraftes repairing this is important.

I can confirm this bug still exists.

I have not tested the Totem of the undying outside the Enderdragon-Fight so I can't say if it's specific to the Enderdragon fight or widerspread.
I had this happen to me with Minecraft 1.16.40 on Windows.
