MCPE-8815 Minecraft 0.11.0 PE crashes after a few seconds on iPad gen 1 Duplicate

Comments

I'd have to agree, there haven't been any "inappropriate" comments I have seen here, only valid reports requesting attention which have been ignored by devs. I also agree the ban hammer is not acceptable customer service. I also find it interesting the recent posts imply that 0.11.1 was intended for Droid users and possibly never even made it to testing on iOS at all. Because I post all my untested Google Play game apps for Google Droid on iTunes because that is obviously where most Droid users get their game apps. Again, posts like that do nothing but make the situation worse, similar to the implication that appearing at Minecon is more important than an actual functional product to promote. It's very possible that might be more profitable but it is not "support" for this issue. I suppose I will soon be banned, but it's not like any users were receiving anything except for ban threats on this "support" forum anyway. I appreciate the input of fellow users who have instruction and posts from iTunes showing how to get refunds, and the informative post describing how to attempt to retrieve 0.10.4 from your recycle bin. As stated before, I got my refund already, and I have given up hope anyone from Mojang will address this constructively anytime soon, and now I am also tired of their borderline abusive mods. Best of luck to the patient users (former users?) who are willing to continue to put up with this type of thing.

@Vince Hilliard that is iTunes' support first response to EVERYTHING to try to avoid having to do any actual work. As demonstrated on this forum they WILL refund you with store credit (it took me three emails and the first try I got the reply you posted here too). And yes, it is a developer issue but the two factors to push with iTunes are 1) you and MANY others have been contacting the developer for a month and haven't even gotten a reply of recognition much less even 5 seconds of actual work on the broken patch and 2) iTunes lists 0.11.1 as functional on iOS 5.x and up which is absolutely false advertising for a paid app and while iTunes isn't responsible for the app, they are responsible for iTunes page with the false information on it. Again, I'd be perfectly okay with Mojang or Apple just making 0.11.1 unavailable to iOS 5 users so those users would have to stay on 0.10.4 but even that seems like it may be too difficult so just take the refund and buy a game that actually works or put the money towards a gen4 iPad.

"Address a bug immediately" wha? This issue has been posted for almost four weeks! If indeed Mojang prefers reddit or email for bug reporting, then the help links on their page and iTunes page that direct to this forum are at worst incorrect and at best not optimal? Actually, since they clearly do not play test their patches much before releasing them, it may not be so far fetched that their support pages are outdated or inaccurate as well.

iTunes issued me a iTunes store credit for the purchase price of Minecraft PE today after I contacted them about being unable to play the paid app for weeks now with no official recognition of a problem from Mojang. They also said they would "investigate" the compatibility issue on Apple's side.

iTunes gave me a store credit today for the purchase price of Minecraft PE and a rep named Janice told me she would be "investigating" the incompatibility issue. Also, user Cruz Elmer, if you updated your iTunes to version 0.11.1 you are "screwed" because iTunes only offers the most up to date version for download, and since Mojang submitted this version as "compatible" with iOS 5.1.1 devices, once its in your iTunes you cannot roll it back. However, if you only updated you iDevice via wifi and have not updated your iTunes, you can sync the working version 0.10.4 from your iTunes to your iDevice and restore your game fun!

Update from iTunes: iTunes gave me a store credit for the purchase price of Minecraft Pocket Edition. They told me they would be investigating the functionality of Minecraft PE 0.11.1 on devices using iOS 5.1.1. I have three iTunes users in my household and all three have 1-starred this now-broken app and submitted iTunes complaint forms as well. I have not heard back on the iTunes complaint forms, but if you contact iTunes they will at least credit you the purchase price of Minecraft PE as store credit so you aren't losing money by not being able to play. The rep I dealt with was named Janice.

Cruz Elmer, you can only roll back if you updated your iDevice via wifi. Once you have downloaded the update on your iTunes you are "screwed' because Mojang submitted the app as "functional" on iTunes for iOS 5.1.1 and iTunes will only offer the most updated version for download. However, if you updated on your iDevice only and not on iTunes, you can sync the working version 0.10.4 from your iTunes back to your device to restore functionality.

So far Apple refuses to even change the false description on iTunes that states that Mojang's Minecraft PE update 0.11.1 works on iOS 5.1.1 and higher which as you all know is absolutely false. I am also pursuing a refund through iTunesand will keep you posted. This is a sad end to a great game, Mojang should be ashamed for not even making a statement on this problem.

I just reported this patch to iTunes as unstable/untested on iOS earlier than 6 and requested it be removed from iTunes for users of iOS prior to 6 because the patch developer refuses to fix it or address the issue. I will keep you all posted on their response.

Has there been any official recognition of this problem from Mojang yet?

Temporarily it's very easy to disable iTunes updates for certain iOS versions, and Mojang needs to make this update unavailable for iOS prior to 6. This will allow gen1 users to actually download the working 0.10.4 update and give a message of "This update is not available for this version of iOS" if you try to upgrade to 0.11 or higher. The real solution is fix the update before release, but at least this way gen1 iPad users will have access to the last working patch again in the meantime.

I have 3 iPad gen1s as stated earlier and three kids with unique iTunes user accounts, the wifi solution does NOT work consistently and the presence or absence of wifi is NOT the sole cause of this problem. Again this update needs to be rolled back for iOS earlier than 6.0 immediately so that users of gen1 can download 0.10.4 again and actually play the game.

This unpredictable update should never have been approved for gen1 iPad users. I have seen the supposed wifi fix fail using 3 different gen1 iPads with three different iTunes accounts, and honestly that's not a valid fix since 95% of the game is cooperative play whether Hive or local server. Please fix this update or at LEAST remove it from the available update list for gen1 users so it just gives the message "this update is not available for this IOS" which is easy to do until there is a stable fix for gen1.
