Happened to me in 1.16.2 on my personal (100% vanilla) private server. Turned to peaceful, and ran the command mentioned by @Egietje above (thanks for the neat command). The command returned just myself and my villager in my house. Still could not sleep due to monsters nearby, so I restarted the server, and that seems to have solved the issue for now.
