On rare occasions, the player is unable to sleep due to "Monsters nearby" despite no monsters being anywhere near the bed

'You may not rest now; there are monsters nearby' is a prompt which, understandably, should appear when trying to rest with hostile mobs nearby. Unfortunately, in this snapshot, it appears that I am unable to sleep regardless, even when in peaceful mode, at midnight, or even after killing every living entity nearby.

I have done a small amount of testing and found that the issue either affects every seed, or I'm just incredibly unlucky. If it is the latter, this bug may be difficult to recreate without the seed I am using: 6051401463432283774 . The coordinates of this village are -746, 71, -1020, and I have modified the house at these coordinates to contain another bed directly east of the landing coordinates. I hope the specifics help, because if I am just unlucky and it only affects certain seeds, it could still be an issue that affects more people than myself.

Can confirm this is still happening on 19w08b

Does this still happen in Minecraft 1.15 or later?

As evidenced in the many duplicated over the last year or so, there does seem to be some kind of issue here, though it seems to be very random.

If you are experiencing this, please make absolutely certain that there are no mobs around the bed in an 8 block radius horizontally and 5 block radius vertically, and that you are not using any modifications, or even data packs.

This exact bug happened to me in 1.16.1. Even when I changed the difficulty to peaceful mode, the message persisted.

Happening to me in 1.16.1. I can sleep in other areas, but not in my house, despite there not being any monsters nearby.

@@unknown They're in the End though. You can't sleep in the End.

Are angered wolves possibly considered a hostile "monster"?

Still happens on 1.16.4. We were playing on 1.16.4 our own server, and suddenly it appeared that we can't sleep on beds that we were able to sleep before. It was about 6 months ago. Today we tried to excavate everything around our house, but with no success. Then we tried to find areas were we are not able to sleep. It turned out that there lots of such "zones" around our house. There areas are overlapped but there are some zones that show that they are 17*17 horizontlly, which is 8+1+8 bed area. I think these zones are somehow connected with the pillagers and their raids. Can provide world with those areas partially fenced.

Is this still an issue in 1.17.1 or later?

I've not noticed it it 1.17.1 so far. But it's definitely happening to me in 1.16.5. I dug around everywhere I could think of and have yet to find anything, but one cave that was way to deep to be within 8 blocks, I lit it up anyway. Still can't sleep in the bed due to monsters nearby.

Yeah but you can bring shulkers to the overworld (or spawn them in with spawn eggs). Anyways, for some reason shulkers don't trigger this message.
