Now I am getting "Game has failed to Launch" , "Java runtime is incompatible"
(see screenshot)
if I try to run 1.8.9. I am using the latest build 1.8.0_352-b08
This is when using the latest minecraft launcher beta 2.3.520
Do you guys need linux testers?
And the bug is back with version 2.3.508....
Can't launch 1.8.9
Yep this is working -seems like they rolled it back to 2.3.462 so hopefully when the next update comes it is all good
Same on Ubuntu 22.04
edit - maybe this is related to MCL-22664 since we need Java 8 to run 1.8.9 and its seems the latest launcher might be ignoring the Java Executable path?
You know, I really hate it when people down the creators and devs of a game for coding bugs. Try it..... you put one single period out of place among BILLIONS of lines of code and a whole system can crash... Boyd, you said it yourself. millions of people are playing this game....... do you really think that things wont go wrong. I think we should count our blessed stars that the game works better than I've seen a game work in 20 years! The bugs they have in minecraft, are addressed immediately(within weeks). Once there cleaned.... They don't come back. Mojang/microsoft has always done a fantastic job. To Mojang... love you guys please don't let the haters get you down. WE STILL LOVE YOU!!!
Can you analyse the latest snapshot (18w19b). I am seeing more diamonds by strip mining but that is just my qualitative assessment.
how do i do that?
To add to my last comment with help from icny's comment - if i switch to bundled jre it works - so the only problem is that it does not respect/recognise a custom java runtime path. From the launcher_log.txt:
[Info: 2022-12-02 18:47:16.258226103: MinecraftJavaRunningContext.cpp(249)] Java Runtime Version : 1.8.0_352

[Error: 2022-12-02 18:47:16.258246852: MinecraftJavaRunningContext.cpp(258)] Java Runtime mismatch! Please switch java runtime settings to use bundled jre.
