I've nearly reached my tipping point for cancelling my Realms, too, and I've already had to warn others about the problems with Minecraft on the Switch.
It's a shame it's too late for me to get a refund for the game itself.
Could the message please be updated to indicate that this is what needs to happen?
The message is not clear at all.
Something like:
"The Server will be updated when the Realm owner connects from an updated client or within 48 hours, whichever happens first."
This would have prevented a lot of frustration.
Sure.
The short version:
Realms support on the Switch seems to be broken.
We've not had a single play session that worked as expected.
The longer version:
Loading the list of realms? Unreliable, sometimes failing constantly until we kill and restart the game.
Connecting to the realm? Unreliable. Sometimes we're stuck at a screen with a loading throbber and no other UI elements, forcing us to kill the game to be able to play again. Other times it repeatedly times out when trying to join the realm. Sometimes it'll join on the second or third try, other times we have to kill the game to get it to join.
Playing in the realm? Unreliable. In most play sessions we experience an issue where the UI is replaced with the loading throbber. We can move freely around the realm, other players see us move, but we are unable to interact with the realm. As long as the throbber is up, we are unable to bring up any menus. Occasionally it goes away after a while, but most often we have to kill and restart the game.
We've had only one play session where, once joined to the realm, we were able to play without interruption, but even this session involved multiple attempts to join to the session, including multiple restarts of the game.
Thank you
Purchased Realms Plus subscription sometime back through Playstation store.
Latest payment was June 30th. On July 3rd the Switch client reported that my Realms Plus subscription was expired, however I was still able to connect to it as recently as yesterday, the 6th.
I've had a similar problem many months ago where the Realm, despite having been paid, ended up expired, but in that case the Realm became unavailable.
