This happened to me too, I was flying in the rain with an elytra equipped, I had full prot 4 and feather falling 4, And I died for no reason midflight. The game said i fell from a high place
I can't play vanilla survival anymore 😞 this drives me crazy! Also, those items bob up and down when view bobbing is set to OFF
