Similliar bug also happened to me. We have realms, and there was an unloaded chunk. Whatever you did there, the blocks were invisible (but there) redstone completely didn't work, and if you logged out, you would be loading forever. I don't know why or when, but at some point the chunk fixed itself and i could get in. That was 1.12 bedrock.

You can't place any blocks on redstone ore.

this must be somehow because when you place a block the redstone ore turns into a glowing one. I had the same issue. Mojang, pls fix.
