Not only does this still occur, but they actually damage the player while splitting into the smaller ones

How is this working as intended? There should at least be visual effects to indicate that mobs will spawn if this "feature" will not be removed. Everyone experiencing this sees it as a bug

 

I never would have built a gigantic castle in survival in the savannah had I known it worked this way

One picture uses addons, the other is from a world without addon (the desert village template). This issue occurs in vanilla worlds

In third person it's even more obvious, I added a zip of the world while in that position and another screenshot. So you should be able to check the bug more easily.

I'm glad I was able to find a place where it can be repreduced 100% of the time, because it had been happening a lot when just wandering normally but I could never repreduce it.

I made sure tu use an unmodded version of Minecraft 1.12.2 to verify it wasn't some mod causing this.
