Scott, I admire your optimism, but statements like "I know you guys are trying hard" and "keep after it" just don't seem borne out by any evidence whatsoever. Mojang has done NOTHING to fix this issue.

A long time ago they wanted people with Macs to connect to their Apple TVs and capture logs for them. All they have to do is force any of their developers with Macs to play the Apple TV version at home every night until they see this bug. It literally cannot be avoided. If you play the Apple TV version of this game, you're going to discover the bug. But somehow they need help from outside to troubleshoot the issue. Mind-boggling.

I honestly think they don't care. They make their money on Minecraft Java edition, Minecraft on Windows 10, and Minecraft PE on everything besides the Apple TV. I doubt the Apple TV makes a one hundredth of one percent of their entire revenue, and that's being generous. Part of the situation with gaming on the Apple TV is Apple's fault, and part of it is that developers just don't seem to take it seriously.

I've posted my thoughts about the Apple TV version at the end of this blog post:

https://www.squareblockworld.com/mineplex/

It's a little ridiculous that Mojang can't repro this bug considering it happens repeatedly without fail to all of us. I know you guys have Macs and I know you have Apple TVs or the Apple TV version of this game wouldn't exist. Just get 5 people to play it for a week, and you'll find the bug repeatedly. It's impossible not to.

Personally, I'm filing a complaint with Apple to get my money back. We can't use the app and Mojang don't appear to be able to fix it.

Soren,

I've never done any development using iCloud saves and iCloud drive files, but what if you used iCloud Drive to save the levels in? Is that possible from Apple TV? The reason I ask is that iCloud Drive files are easily accessible to anyone on Mac or iOS devices (and maybe PCs for all I know) and we could easily get a corrupted file to you that way.

Thanks again.

Thank you for the response. It makes a lot of difference understanding how you're trying to solve this. I'll attempt to answer your questions as best I can below based on what we've seen in our case:

1. No.
2. No, not until next trying to load the world and getting the corrupted world message.
3. Have seen it with single save, or two or three saves.
4. Never. The game (other than the world corruption) has been very stable and bug-free.
5. Wi-fi, always one, speed as measured on the Apple TV using SpeedTest is 220Mbps.
6. No, one iCloud account only.
7. Yes.
8. No.
9. It's stable. We watch a lot of streaming video on the Apple TV and have zero dropouts or buffering situations.
10. Appears to be both.
11. We have used it with both Festive texture pack and no texture packs and had world corruption with both.
12. Not sure what this means, but it only affects specific saved worlds and not the entire game, if that's what you mean.
13. Yes, but we're generally afraid to log onto our Realm with the Apple TV (fearing corruption) so we haven't tried it more than once.
14. One-by-one as far as I can tell.
15. I wish I had some commonality but so far I haven't seen any.

Thank you for working on the issue and thanks for putting up with cranky customers like myself. I tend to vent a little too often, so I apologize. Thanks guys.

PS. It's also interesting that this happened on multiple iPhones in my family at the same time. Seems like a 1.0.3 update issue?

Thank you.

Update: I backed up my worlds from my iPhone using iExplorer, then deleted MCPE. I reinstalled MCPE, logged into Xbox, and MCPE crashed. I opened it again, and then it started working on all local worlds and our realm.

I then restored my worlds from my computer onto the iPhone using iexplorer and it is still working. I can log into any world and MCPE doesn't crash.

Seems like some file corruption thing on a file other than my world files.

Please mark this resolved, however it might be useful information if other people are having this issue.

Thank you.

After a few hours, my realm became active again. Please disregard. I'll file a new report if it happens again. Thank you.

Yes. This keeps happening. It's reproducible. We have the same problem.

https://www.squareblockworld.com/festive/ (see near the bottom of the post)

Also - Mojang... please do consider an Apple TV version bug tracker. I'd like to hope the Apple TV version Minecraft will be taken seriously and given proper support. Thank you.

Sounds good, thank you. Right now I can't even get into my realm. Not sure if that's specific to our realm or all MCPE realms right now.

Now no one in my family can even log into our MCPE realm, even though it shows up in our list with a green status indicator.

By the way, our realm isn't the only one with chunks of blocks being reset:

Thank you.

I can assure you your customers will be a lot less frustrated sounding when you take time to understand the issue and not care more about closing tickets immediately.

We are paying for this product after all.

Thank you.

This just happened again. We were unable to connect for a few minutes, and when it came back up, content is missing. A tunnel and railroad that we built were replaced by stone blocks.

AGAIN: I don't care about the downtime. I DO care that you keep removing/destroying content and don't even seem to care or acknowledge that it's happening.

Anyone paying for Minecraft PE realms right now is throwing away money.

Guys, I don't give a crap about the outage. I know it already happened. What I care about is that you understand your outage REMOVES CONTENT. If people start paying money for this service, they might care that things they build disappear after you have downtime.

“The realms team is aware of the outage” is great, but do they understand why they couldn't bring the servers back up without erasing user-generated content? That's the important part here.
