REALMS-101

Minecraft PE Realm deleted a section of my build after PE realm downtime

This is an issue with Minecraft Realms beta for PE & Windows 10. I didn't enter it under the Minecraft Realms category because they only list the PC versions under "Affects Versions". This is intended.

Also your list of iPhone models under "Device" in this category is out of date. I have an iPhone 6s Plus, although it doesn't matter since it's a realms issue and was observed on multiple models of iPhone.
Thanks, we will review these problems. -@unknown

The issue:

We created a Minecraft PE realm 3 person ($3.99) subscription on 6/14 and started building right away.

On 6/16, my daughter informed me that part of a tower i built was missing. I thought it was a glitch on her iPhone, but on 6/17, I logged into the realm and found it had sliced out about 1/3 of my tower and completely removed it. It removed a slice about 8 blocks north to south, and over 30 blocks (at least) east to west. It removed everything from the ground to the maximum build height in the region.

The removal may have affected the world all the way across from west to east for all I know, I only had built a tower in the one area and had nothing beside it either to the west or east. From north to south, the removal was 8 to 10 blocks deep horizontally and consisted of all blocks vertically from the ground up.

From looking at your Mojang Support twitter account, it appears you had a PE realm outage about the time the deletion happened. I just want you to know that your outage resulted in content destruction. Whatever the restoration process was, there are some issues with it as it's not a complete restoration.

Since there is no way to backup a PE realm on the part of the user, having Mojang's PE realm server remove user added blocks is suboptimal. Be aware that it's happening and please look into it. Right now it's hard to know if building things is a waste of time.

Thank you for your report. Unfortunately, we can't do anything about this as it has already happened. The realms development team is aware of the outage, and will try to prevent it from happening again. Please update this ticket if it happens again.

Guys, I don't give a crap about the outage. I know it already happened. What I care about is that you understand your outage REMOVES CONTENT. If people start paying money for this service, they might care that things they build disappear after you have downtime.

β€œThe realms team is aware of the outage” is great, but do they understand why they couldn't bring the servers back up without erasing user-generated content? That's the important part here.

migrated

This just happened again. We were unable to connect for a few minutes, and when it came back up, content is missing. A tunnel and railroad that we built were replaced by stone blocks.

AGAIN: I don't care about the downtime. I DO care that you keep removing/destroying content and don't even seem to care or acknowledge that it's happening.

Anyone paying for Minecraft PE realms right now is throwing away money.

@Scott Willsey We understand your concern. I am reopening this ticket as no realms outage has happened recently. Please do moderate your tone.

I can assure you your customers will be a lot less frustrated sounding when you take time to understand the issue and not care more about closing tickets immediately.

We are paying for this product after all.

Thank you.

Now no one in my family can even log into our MCPE realm, even though it shows up in our list with a green status indicator.

By the way, our realm isn't the only one with chunks of blocks being reset:

Thank you.

Scott, please do be patient. In your description, you wrote that you experienced the chunk problem around the same time that there was a realms outage, so I closed your issue because of that information. Also, I am aware that you are not the only one experiencing the issue, see the duplicate ticket above.

Sounds good, thank you. Right now I can't even get into my realm. Not sure if that's specific to our realm or all MCPE realms right now.

I believe that's a seperate issue. Please keep in mind that realms is new to PE.

I dont know if i should create a totally seprate bug report for this or just report it here so i guess ill ask. This extreemly currupt and evil bug dose not just happen on Realms, it has happend to me on Local LAN a number of times when playing with friends/family. Once it has also happend on my own private world that I have never had anybody else ever join me but it only removed a tiny portion of my cave-house so i just rebuilt (this one time thing was wayyy back). If this is classed as a seprate bug I will create it because so far ive only seen people claiming this bug as Realms only when thats totally false. If this is classified as the same bug I would love to see someone actually create a section in the report about it because so far its gone totally un-noticed that this also happens on LAN and possibly (mabye now impossible) on single player.

Hello,
My husband and I play in a 10 person realm (owned by me) with our children. This issue is happening to us also, on several different occasions. The most recent one has happened within the last 2 hours (between 9.30 - 11.30pm Australian Eastern Standard time 5/7/16) and has completely split a huge barn/stable in half, in a straight line, the whole left hand side missing. Also, mines created below ground have been closed in, chests filled with ores vanished.
The first time this happened, I shrugged it off assuming it was a one time glitch, but now that it has happened numerous times it is obviously a big problem.
Please rectify this issue asap, as not only do I feel paying for a realm may be a waste of time and money, but I also have disappointed children.
I have attached screenshots of half a house missing, and half a skeleton spawner xp farm that is turned back to stone for your perusal.
Regards, Sarah

I submitted MCPE 15722 for this same issue.

This issue and the CONSTANT disconnects from the server (and then losing resources) has made me decide we will go with a different game. I understand that the Windows 10 version is beta, but this is the Realm's servers causing the issues we are having. The land changing has nothing to do with our client. The disconnects are disconnecting three of us in different states. It's not our computers or ISPs.

I'm here to report the same issue but I didn't see a reason to make a new bug report.

Constant disconnects and map resets random chunks. It renders realms unplayable, please fix this so we players can utilize your service.

Also I'm not sure if this is related or not but parts of the nether have swapped blocks with the overworld (and vice-versa). When a player interacts with them they reset to the proper world.
