MCPE-146879 Boat Disappears Upon Disembarking Duplicate

Comments

Bought ZigZag pack a few days ago on Nintendo Switch. At 128x it crashes after a few minutes in game. Reduced resolution to 32x, and I was able to play about 10 minutes before hard crash. I have Bedrock 1.18.2. This has been a bug for 3 years! I might as well have set fire to that cash! My boats disappear constantly now this. Why is Minecraft so buggy?!

This is an update to the workaround that I posted about on 17 November 2021. There appears to be one detail that I missed previously.

  1. Before you exit the boat - and I know this isn’t likely possible if you’re in the middle of the ocean - go close to shore. Make sure that boat is floating exactly one block above a patch of dirt, stone, sand say 2 x 2; place some if needed.

  2. Then look straight down at the bottom of the boat.

  3. While looking down press the button to exit the boat.

Hope this helps with both the investigation and your boating adventures!

I think I’ve found a work-around for disappearing boats:

  1. Stop rowing

  2. Before pressing the button to exit the boat, look straight down at the floor of the boat.

  3. While looking down press the button to exit the boat

This has been working for me pretty consistently today.  Let me know if this works for anyone else.

Also I did search your Jira for this issue before submitting this bug. I found other tickets reporting the same issue, but they had all been marked resolved or closed. Here’s the JQL for my search for open tickets:

project = "Minecraft (Bedrock codebase)" AND (status != Closed AND status != Resolved) AND ((summary ~ "Boat*" OR description ~ "Boat*") AND (summary ~ "disappears*" OR description ~ "disappears*"))

Something else that I noticed at the same time was that when I place a boat in water I no longer hear the splash sound.

  • What you were doing leading up to the mobs disappearing

    • Traveled to a nearby flower forest to obtain bees, and then upon return to home village proceeded to breed the bees and harvest honeycomb and honey

  • Single vs. multiplayer, local vs server/realm

    • Single player, local

  • How far you traveled

    • From my home village at ~[-1200, y, -120] TO ~[-2750, y, -1600]

  • How long the current or previous play session lasted

    • ~4 hours

  • Whether the despawns were near a player spawn point or if you had changed your player spawn point during the session

    • I had slept in bed at night / reset spawn point a couple of times at regular “safe houses” along the way to / from the flower forest

    • Upon returning to my home base-village, I erected 4 bee hives, planced the one I’d transported, and then proceeded to breed the bees over the course of several Minecraft days

    • All of my bees disappeared at about the same time all my villagers disappeared

  • If you experienced lag or anything else abnormal

    • The game froze a couple of times but eventually normal gameplay resumed, and I continued

    • There were a few instances of lag

    • Upon exiting a boat, the boat immediately disappears, and this happens about 99% of the time; if I walk away from where the boat disappeared and return, I find it right where I exited it

    • Currently my village has only one vfillager, and that single villager I found outside the village in a minecart.
