I've had it happen with multiple horses and 2 donkeys now. Both of the donkeys were named, and one of them even had loot on it. Never did the horses or donkeys reappear.

Actually, Horses don't really despawn they just disappear or become invisible and you can't interact with them. But if you reload the world, the horses will reappear. Sometimes they are found far away from their last position as they keep moving while bieng invisible.

Promised response to creator of MCPE-137853: I could not duplicate this bug on 1.17.30.20, despite using up all my horses and a nearby  village's donkeys.  The worst I could do was kill them by running them  into an artesian well in the desert from which they couldn't escape.  Every time I received a message in chat "your horse drowned" or "your donkey drowned".

We're having trouble reproducing this issue in the latest versions - could you please add in any specific repro steps that might help?

I can confirm that it is still happening in the latest version. The steps to reproduce don't always lead to a disappearance, but I just had it happen when I tried to jump over a river with my horse, the horse appeared to land in an area that was 2 water blocks deep, and the horse vanished as I was forcefully dismounted. 1.17.11, Switch.

Ride a horse and attempt to jump a river.  If you miss and land in the river while falling off a cliff (>6 blocks), you fall off the horse, as is usual when the horse enters water.  If the fall is great enough, the horse disappears.  If you are on the waters edge and enter with a horse, the horse stays, but I've noticed this when riding at full speed attempting to jump the river and miss, crashing into the water.  

Please fix so the horse doesn't disappear with my saddle.  

Sidebar: Please also fix so the horses can ford water and not cause us to dismount when crossing a river.

Seed: -197586509 (Experimental ON); Survival Mode; Normal Difficulty; Infinite Size; world created in Beta v1.17.40.20.

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Enter a boat and travel across a body of water
2. Stop and Exit the boat

Observed Results: Minecraft Bedrock v1.17.40.20-23 Beta, boat disappears, see attached videos.
Expected Results: Boat is still visible

Workaround: sometimes you can exit the boat while it is still moving, and it will not disappear or run boat into a sand block and exit.

I've had the issue on 1.18 beta and 1.17 beta. It says resolved but I I still have the issue. It usually accors after exiting the boat between 2 and 4 times or if I'm close to land.

I opened another ticket for my boats actually going away when I exit them, but was told the issue was a duplicate and directed here.

The issue here is not the same. My boats do not become invisible. They completely go away. If there was a mob in the boat with me, it also vanishes from the game.

I think when exiting a boat when the boat is touching another block, is making it despawn. The boat is not invisible as I can not get back into the boat, it is just gone. I will have to double check but I think it doesn't happen in open water, just if the boat is touching a solid block when exiting the boat.

I have the same issue as Joe, The boat despawns, not invisible. its happened when i have exited in open water to get loot from a sunken ship, its happened when i exited boat next to a grass block and i have had it happen when i left a boat in the water whist i slept next to it,  i will see if i can replicate this in a new world

For me the boat is invisible and can't be interacted with. However, other players can see and interact with the boat. The boat reappears after logging off the Realm server and logging back in. 

I was also redirected here. A bubble column was not involved. When logging in it appears that I can interact with the boat normally within the chunks that load when I log in, however when I travel a distance, the boat disappears when I exit. It doesn’t matter if I jump out in open ocean or in shallows. I can’t interact with it until I log out and back in. Other players can see the boat and interact with it… if they break it I can see the item pop out. 

That happends to me the same on 1.17.34 Its quite annyoying but its a horse.

It just teleports me away from the horse. And its invincible at a same time. Animation of the horse just stays and floats.

Since upgrading my bedrock dedicated server to 1.17.40, this is happening to me almost every time I exit a boat. Other players on the server are experiencing the same thing. Previously I never experienced this bug. Leaving and rejoining the server does make the boat reappear for me.

Not sure if this impacts the bug or not, but I am using the option `server-authoritative-block-breaking=true`.

Affects Windows 10 Bedrock v1.18.0.22 Beta.

I'm having the same issue where if I'm in the ocean and jump out of the boat, it sometimes disappears, often leaving me stranded in the middle of the ocean. After I hop around for a while, sometimes it'll reappear, but sometimes it doesn't. 

I'm having this same issue and I've found some reproduce-able actions. This is currently happenign to me EVERY SINGLE TIME I get out of the boat. It will despawn VISUALLY but it's still there. I know this because my dog was in it and it despawned with the dog in the boat but I could still hear the dog and see the boats "shadow" on the block it was floating over. Here's the clencher.. if I ram my boat into the shoreline and then jump out with it overlapping the shoreline block a bit.. it doesn't despawn. 

The only way I've been able to get the ship to spawn back into the game is by leaving my server completely and then rejoining. 

YOu can see in the screenshot below the dog floating, sitting in the boat that's despawned. I actually just timed it right because he's flickering across my screen, almost impossible to see.

I lost 3 boats this way in 15min, one wasn't even near land.

First: I was out in open water and saw a sunken ship, so I stopped above it, jumped out of the boat and dove down to look for chests. When I came back up, my boat was gone. 

Second: I saw an amethyst geode and dove down to look in it. When I came back up, my boat was gone.

Third: I was approaching my local base, went right up to the land with my boat and hit spacebar to exit, and the boat disappeared immediately. I tried hitting the space I knew it had been with my axe and sword, and couldn't find it.

This also happens on Windows 1.17.40 and Android 1.17.40. I am not sure if it's related by animals easily despawn too. I am not far from the animals (literally in the house next to them) but they despawn anyway.

I’ve had the same thing happen but I was in a swamp biome. The boat disappeared when I hopped out to get onto land; there was only one block of water between the bot and the ground it that matters. The boat wouldn’t reappear until I refreshed the world

Using a PS4, and I've lost numerous boats this way over the past week or so, since the latest update. Hopping out makes the boat disappear almost every single time. I've had a couple of boats not disappear, and had one reappear almost immediately (while looking up after jumping off and going underwater to see if the boat was still there), but most of them are disappearing after I hop out. I've tried breaking surrounding blocks (even whacked the water to see if anything would happen), and tried jumping into the absent boat to see if it just wasn't rendering, but it acts as if there's no boat there. Then, after leaving an area and returning or reloading a world, the missing boat(s) would be there. I'll try to video next time and edit this comment to include that.

I’m on the switch and every time I get off my boat it disappears. If I save and quit, then reopen the world, it comes right back. That’s how I’m dealing with it right now, but I’ll be happy when this bug gets fixed! I’m using my boats a lot right now. 😞

Boat containing Villager reappears after moving a few chunks away.

we are having the same issue on a server (bedrock) with boats disappearing and if you go far away and come back they reshow or if you log out with 1.17.4

I didn't think my issue was related to this but I've been advised it is a duplicate. We also had a disappearing bot that had a sheep in in. The boat vanished and the sheep started glitching about the place like it was constantly teleporting. Also other boats that are left in the water vanish, so we have to remember to pick them up. This is 1.17.4 with Caves and cliffs turned on. I have a video of the glitching sheep but I'm not sure how to add it to this comment. 

adding an update re this problem on a server. my husband and i were in a boat. him in the front. when we exited the boat he couldnt see it by I could so was able to break it for him to carry. This may help with bug tracking.

Don’t seem to have this problem unless im playing cross play with my son connecting his switch to a world on my Xbox. Neither of us have ever had it in single player.

If we both get into separate boats, then leave the boats,  we can’t see the one we just left but we can see the boat the other person just got out of. So player1 in boat 1, player2 in boat2, both get out. Player 2 can now only see boat 1 and vice versa.

After triggering this bug, if either of us gets in the boat we can see but which is invisible to our buddy, the player  in the boat also becomes invisible. So player 2 gets in boat1 and player 2 can no longer see player 1 or boat1.

boats will reappear, we thought it was after a certain period of time but reading comments above I suspect it was travelling a certain distance away that triggered it.

I play on Bedrock on Xbox and have been having this issue today on my private world where I get out of my boat and it vanishes. When I re-load the chunk later on the boat has reappeared. Sometimes if I hold forward when I press jump and land on land the boat will still be there.

I wondered if it made any difference whether I pressed A or B to exit the boat, but it doesn’t.

Same problems on the PS5, since the last 3 updates, my boat always disappears when i exit it.

Ive had issues with boats disappearing when exiting.  Logging out and logging back in its there again.  win10 bedrock with caves and cliffs on and experimental molang features turned on. This world originally created on ps4 bedrock. 

Greetings, I have minecraft on my android and also my xbox one and the same problem happens for both of them. I don't have any problem with crafting a boat or picking it up if I drop it from my inventory. I can place the boat down and paddle as far or as close as I want (even just hopping in and immediately back out), and the boat will disappear when I exit the boat. Even after exiting and re logging or walking away a fair distance and returning, the boat is still no where to be seen. When approaching the shore to disembark, I tested exiting at full speed, coasting speed, and stopped in the water with no change between them. This is also true when changing from water to paddling on pure land via runoff and paddling a boat that was placed directly on land. I've been wanting to transport villagers, but I don't to risk having to chase them down or a mob getting to them if I have to stop on the way and my boat de-spawns. Also don't want to have to carry a bunch of wood, filling valuable inventory spots to make how ever many boats I need from A to B. I don't know if it's because I have the Android and xbox one versions on the same account and that's bugging it or not. I'm not sure if others who have reported this issue have 2 versions on 1 account so I thought it might be useful information. I've also had a zombie villager despawn who had been named when I first spotted this boat issue so I'm not sure if those dissapearedances are connected or not, might be a good test though. I'll see if I can get it the zombie villager disappearing replicated when I get in and out of boats, I'll edit this comment if I can replicate it or not.

Also for reference, the worlds I'm in that I've seen these issues have been in private, solo survival mode and have never been switched to creative. I don't think that switching between survival and creative is causing this from that info.

Because there are a lot of reports recently (since 1.17.41?) about boats disappearing when you exit them, and because it has just happened to me for the first time, I suspect the issue with respect to boats has a different cause, or perhaps an additional cause, that is more recent than what is causing the other entities. My boat disappeared when I exited it, even though I'd used it earlier and it was normal. Fortunately the island I'd landed on had a tree, so I was able to make a new boat to return to my base, but then the latter boat disappeared as well. On a hunch, I reloaded the world and found the boat right where it should have been. I then returned to the island and found my original boat, again right where it should have been. On returning to my base and exiting, the problem didn't happen again. It seems as if whatever is causing the bug might only arise after a certain period of play or some precursor happens during play.

One more thing: It's not just that the boat is invisible, it's either not in the world or its hitbox is absent, too. Knowing where the boat should be, I tried at one point to break it when it was invisible, but my axe couldn't make contact with it.

Edit: I neglected to mention that this world is set to Single Player, which would indicate that if it's a client-server desync problem, it's not the result of a network error.

FWIW I first noticed the increase in incidence of this issue immediately after upgrading my bedrock dedicated server to 1.17.40. At least in my case, I never experienced the issue on 1.17.34 or below. Just like you describe, the boat is not just invisible but also has no hitbox, and it returns to normal after reloading the world.

We saw this bug, but in at least one instance while playing on a Realm, the boat disappeared for its original user but NOT for another player on the realm. The other player could interact normally with the boat. When the other player broke the boat, picked it up, and then dropped it, the original player could interact with the dropped item again.

I am playing single player 1.17.40. The boat disappears every time i leave boat. If i leave the area so the chunk unloads then come back then the boat reappears.

The boat seems to, sometimes, teleport to its previous location where it was mounted, then teleport back to where we actually left it. When the chunk where the boat was mounted is not loaded anymore, the boat seems to stay there (visualy) and does not come back.

Adjusting the render distance might bring it back.

It only happens with our own boat. When a boat disappears after being dismounted, all the other players around can still see the boat.

this started happening to me a few days ago with boats. 

I play in split screen as the second player.  When i dismount a boat as the second player it usually disappears.   The first player can however still see the boat that the second player cannot see.  The first player doe not have this issue.  This is on a PS4

I experienced this several times with boats in  a fresh experimental world on Android/bedrock. 

The boat would disappear before leaving the area, after getting out of the boat and walking/swimming a few blocks away. The last time it happened, I had a skeleton horse in the back and it disappeared too. no hitbox or interactions possible with either. The horse and boat reappeared after leaving and re-entering the world. 

i lost 2 boats and a mule with it's bags full. 

tried to reload a couple of times but didn't came back anymore 

I do not require the complex steps to reproduce, I only have to exit the boat with either the A or the B, and the boat will disappear. Yes, you can not enter it again if you happen to find the space it occupies, but saving and reentering the world does make it visible again. Interesting though, even if you do not collide with it, it does not always appear in the same space that it was exited from, sometimes multiple blocks away. Happening more with 1.17.40+ updates. Xbox version, no experiments, no unlocks, simply survival mode.

Fixes for this problem with respect to mobs (horses, mules, and donkeys) were applied in the 1.17.20 and 1.17.30 Beta releases and propagated into the 1.17.40 retail release. We've had no further reports of the issue with mobs since then, so I'm pretty sure that part has been fixed. If you continue having this problem with mobs, please leave a comment with the details.

The issue with boats, on the other hand, seems to have gotten worse since the 1.17.40 release. Mojang is well aware of this and is working on a solution internally. Therefore, we don't need any further information about this issue as it affects boats.

Hey, I'm a little new here, but I do have a question for Auldrick related to this report and his recent comment about the issue. I don't understand why you say there are no further reports of the issue, I see lots of people commenting about losing mobs, still, even one the day before you made your statement talking about losing a mule. I see so many people commenting about losing mobs in fact, I've stopped playing Bedrock for the time-being, to avoid being struck by this bug, because it would be heartbreaking for me.

Decided to drop in and check on the status of things, in case there was a bugfix update, or some official word from Mojang. Your comment confused me, and made me wonder if (even having read the guidelines) I don't understand what "counts" as a report.

I thought that if we could find our issue by searching, we were supposed to vote and comment, and that counted as much as a report as making one that would require a mod to mark it as a duplicate. If this is so, then the dozens of comments over the past week alone stating that people recently lost mobs would constitute reports. This seems like it conflicts with your statement that there have been no further reports.

TLDR: Sure seems like people are still reporting it. Sure seems like it's still a bug. Seems like people are getting afraid to play, if they have a playstyle that involves emotional attachment to mobs. I feel this is a valid impact of the bug, and is worth noting, along with the many commenters stating they have lost mobs*.*

I hope this comment is not out of line, as although I have not had this bug happen to my world yet, I do feel I am being affected by it now. Hearing from other players that it is still happening to them, and hearing nothing from Mojang, is making me afraid to play. This is why your comment confused me. If those other players comments stating they have lost entities besides boats recently do not count, then what does? If this is not the right place for me to ask this, where is?

@unknown friendly reminder, this bug report is about players riding entities like boats or horses.

@unknown: Since 21 September (when 1.17.30 was released with the partial fixes from Beta testing) there have been dozens of comments and hundreds of duplicate reports added to this ticket. almost all of which are first and foremost about disappearing boats. Only a handful have mentioned any kind of mob, and for most of those the mob disappeared because it was in a boat that disappeared, which is not the same issue and will probably not happen after boats are fixed. Besides that, what I said in my comment yesterday was that the issue with mobs appears to have been fixed in 1.17.30 but to comment if you're still having that issue, so I'm not sure why you think I'm discouraging further comments about mobs.

The comment about the mule was ambiguous about whether it was within one of the two boats that were lost. I assumed it was and therefore disregarded it as another example of secondary effects of the boat bug. I realize that my assumption could be wrong, but we don't have the time or resources to pursue a clarification on every little ambiguity. If the mule actually wasn't in a boat, somebody else will surely still have the horse problem and they'll eventually comment *un-*ambiguously; we'll address the issue further at that time.

I play MC Bedrock on my iPad and had not encountered this boat bug prior to updating to 1.17.41 two weeks ago.  Now I have be hit 3 times by mass entity disappearances, including mules, donkeys and horses not in boats but on leads in well light and secure corrals.  I found and commented on, as well as voted for, bug #MCPE-144208 which deals more with a broader entity loss bug, but the bugs might be related 

This bug has started happening to me and the members of my realm since 1.17.40, (NOT the Beta, but the 'live' release) we have only encountered this using boats.

Sometimes it happens every time you exit a boat, other times it won't occur at all. Seems random.

One thing we have noticed is that if the boat disappears for one player, others can still see it. They can then break it and as soon as it has been broken the player that couldn't see it originally can then re-see it floating/sinking in the water and pick it back up again.

When a specific player cannot see the boat, they also cannot see the mob/other player riding in the boat. The entire entity & other entities within the boat completely disappear until another player that can still see the boat breaks it. Once the boat is broken everything that had vanished, reappears. 

This is workable if you are playing with others. If you are on your own and this happens, then the boat is lost seemingly forever.

I just experienced this bug for the first time. Or, at least, I think it's the same bug. But the boat isn't actually disappearing.

I was working on ice highways in the Nether. I got in my boat and moved it a few blocks away around a corner so I could place ice blocks where it was. When I got out of the boat, it had been moved back to the spot where I got into it before moving it.

So maybe that's what's happening to others? The boat isn't disappearing, but is actually being moved back to where it was when they got into it?

I think I’ve found a work-around for disappearing boats: 

1. Stop rowing 

2. Before pressing the button to exit the boat, look straight down at the floor of the boat.

3. While looking down press the button to exit the boat

This has been working for me pretty consistently today.  Let me know if this works for anyone else. 

This is an update to the workaround that I posted about on 17 November 2021. There appears to be one detail that I missed previously. 

1. Before you exit the boat - and I know this isn’t likely possible if you’re in the middle of the ocean - go close to shore. Make sure that boat is floating exactly one block above a patch of dirt, stone, sand say 2 x 2; place some if needed. 

2. Then look straight down at the bottom of the boat.

3. While looking down press the button to exit the boat. 

Hope this helps with both the investigation and your boating adventures!

1.18 is already in the list of affected versions. Please comment with new information only.

When playing with another player, we were able to see each other's boats and could interact with them but we could not see or interact with our own. So when we were traveling together we would park our boats then get out and go break the other boat we could see. Hopefully this helps in finding a way to fix this bug or help people. 

I have the impression that the bug appears when the player leaves the entity (horse, boat, etc ...) after having traveled a sufficient distance so that the chucks from which the player entered are unloaded.

In short, I think that when the player moves in an entity as a passenger, only the player's position is updated but not the entity he is riding. So when the player leaves the entity he has mounted and the entity is still in a loaded zone, the game manages to teleport the entity to the player's position, otherwise he does not succeed and l entity has disappeared as long as the player does not reload the chunk where the entity is located.

This report was originally only about rideable mobs. Boats were added later based on weak similarities. Later, a more specific report about boats, MCPE-125388, was created and since then we have been treating the reports as separate bugs.

However, after studying the current situation, the staff has come to believe that both tickets actually describe the same problem, which is different from the mob bug, so going forward we'll be using MCPE-125388 to track the boat issue.

Therefore, people who are still watching this ticket because they have the problem of disappearing boats should upvote and watch MCPE-125388 instead. Note that the problem is well understood now, so we don't need you to repeat any comments you might have made here on the other ticket (we would rather you didn't, in fact).

With respect to the problem with mobs, we're not aware that anyone is having that problem anymore and we intend to close this report as Fixed once we complete the splitting work. However, if you are still having the problem with rideable mobs, please give us the details in a comment right away so that we know to leave this ticket open.

I never had this happen to me before today and it happened after the 2.36 update but it says here this has been fixed and I just had it happen to me shortly after the the 2.36 update, got out of my boat and it was was gone
