This same problem occurs with wolves/cats/pigs. The lead doesn't attach to the mob, but "hovers" over their head (as if it were a horse).

Leads attach for horses correctly, but look very strange hovering over smaller mobs.

Running on a 32X32 pack. Appears to be the same issue of not using the grayscale overlay to change the side color.

Gaps appear in Nether Fortresses as well and trap players who walk on them. Still stops Lava, though.
