Same issue here. I just purchased a realm for the first time today, using the Nintendo Switch interface. My game is on v1.14.30, yet I receive the "Outdated client" message when trying to access the realm.
Exact same problem as the other commenters. The Switch has more than enough storage space available, but Minecraft just throws this error and makes the game unplayable. This bug, a critical blocker for a segment of paying customers, was reported over two years ago and remains unresolved. Remarkable and sad.
