Same problem. Seems Minecraft issued a hot fix and now MPE will not run on WiFi on either my iPad or iPhone. Just freezes on the loading screen.

I'm having the same problem.
I hollowed out a large section 3 chunks by 3 chunks.
I have a huge spike on root.tick.level.connection.checkLight whenever i walk though 3 out of the 9 chunks.
The other 6 chunks do not give me the same issue.

Edit: I made a back up of my world. Edited the original a bit try to fix the bug and later had to replace the original with the back up. Now the bug seems to have solved itself for me.
