As a test, I installed this on an iPhone XR, and had the same problem - hung at the same point on loading screen.
Then, this magically started working (on both phone and ipad) yesterday, without doing anything - loaded fine, no problems at all. Must have been something server side, either relating to my iCloud account or iCloud data.
No issues starting/using Minecraft now.
Thanks John, I’ll wait for the next update to see if it fixes the problem.
What about your skins and coins? Can I copy the entire Minecraft folder from iPad to iPad?
Yes, this was hanging for me on iOS, but is resolved for me now under the other ticket. Will report back here if anything stops working.
