Confirmed for 14w28b
I can confirm this for 14w28b
This still happens in 14w28b, you can use this preset to easily test it:
3;minecraft:bedrock,20*minecraft:water,minecraft:waterlily;0;
Also, this shouldn't be duplicated by MC-2931.
This has nothing to do with speed or realism just the controls that are needed to steer. Holding A should have the same effect as holding both W and A currently does in 1.7.1.
You are correct, I never noticed that it changed in 1.6. But I guess this is still a bug since it was possible to move a boat with just the A or D keys in 1.5. It currently seems broken, or at least very counterintuitive (or am I the only one to think this?) to require holding W or S while moving sideways. W should be forward, A left and both at the same time should be in between.
Not sure if this is intended or not, but since the boat controls have changed in 1.7 pre-release I can only go left or right if I also hold forward or backward. So I can't move my boat by just holding A or D.
The boat breaking is still present in 1.7.1 pre-release. The easiest way to test this is by creating a superflat world with this preset: 2;1,20x9,111;1;village
There you can only travel a couple of meters in a boat before it breaks.
You can also use this world preset to test it. Just throw down a boat and see how it still breaks.
2;1,20x9,111;1;village
Still an issue in 1.6.1
An easy way to replicate this issue is to spawn mobs on lily pads, clientside they will immediately sink through. And as opposed to being in real water zombies burn, endermen won't take damage and creepers blow up the lily pads. Here is a video that demonstrates it: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=T0PQpQ-CVrM
Lily pads still break boats in snapshot 13w16b. It even seems worse now.
I can confirm this in 1.4.5, it is however a clientside bug. As opposed to being in real water zombies burn, endermen won't take damage and creepers blow up the lily pads. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=T0PQpQ-CVrM
I can confirm that boats still break from lily pads in 1.4.5. It can happen at any speed and water depth. I've made a video in which I reproduce the bug at various speeds and angles in both shallow and deep water. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=u4uai1h3usc
I can also confirm the desync bug in 1.4.5. I've made a video for that as well, it shows the issue quite clear. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zOm_iUSscBA
Do you mean like this? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=B3Lim4pzX7c
I reported that issue for 1.3.1 on the wiki a while back, but it might already have been fixed. I will try to reproduce it in 1.4.4.
Edit: I can't seem to reproduce the issue, shooting arrows and using a fishing rod from a boat works as expected in 1.4.4.
It still happens in 14w28b as you can see in video.
