Agreed.
All it takes is one person at Mojang to try and swim using a mobile device to see how bad swimming is now.
They can report back in here (ideally with a video showing their experience of swimming).
This bug has stopped me playing Minecraft until it has been fixed.
I really appreciate Mr.Pufferfish adding a check in each version.
Yes.. the conversion of ALL resources when tapping twice is not a good UI.. often we just want two or three of something but end up making 100s!
Either give us simple + / - buttons to choose how many we want or revert to tap once to get one - keeps it nice and simple.
Seems like many connection issues are directed to this.. would be good to remove the reference to XBox as several other redirected issues are for other devices like Android.
My problem is this:
Two Android devices running v1.16.221 and logged in to separate MS accounts.
World was originally created on device A with v1.16.???
Device B could connect multiple times over multiple days OK
One day trying to connect fails with "Disconnected due to the server being unavailable"
Logging out of device B it can connect as a generic Steve OK
Logging back in to MS account it fails to connect again with same error.
On device A they see player B's character appear where they were last standing.. then after the 1min or so timeout they disconnect.
Seems like the players data is somehow corrupt.. is there any way to refresh/reset a player in the world?
We have tried
Rebooting both devices
Uninstalling and reinstalling app on device B
Clearing cache on both devices
Logging in and out of MS accounts
Seems to be related to a network game - Im doing lots of tests on local games (created on the device) and LAN network games.
When I connect to a LAN network game it has a high chance of being black under water.
Additional info:
Third person view makes no difference
Turning all fancy graphics off makes no difference
Connecting to a Bedrock Server (Alpha) on windows makes no difference as compared to connecting to another device hosting its world (eg Minecraft client on Windows).
Thats about as much testing as I can do unless someone wants to suggest something else.
Ideally having some debug options running withing the client when it happens would be useful.
Over to you guys 🙂
I just installed the minecraft beta 1.11.0.4 on my LG v20 running Android 8.0.
I'm reluctant to try connecting to my network server so have been testing in local games.
So going in and out of the app, putting it in the background, logging in and out : the under water was consistently fine.
I then tryed my lg v20 running Android 7.0.1 and repeated the test on a local game. Interesting same result : no black under water.
So from this test I would say the problem of black underwater only happens when connected to a network game.
Next test this weekend is to try and setup a network game to get the beta 1.11.0.4 connected to.
I have an LG v20 on Android 7.0.1.
Logging into my LAN game running alpha bedrock server from a win 10 pc.
I had no problems under water, logging out and in, putting the app into background, etc..
So I guessed it's related to the version of Android... But...
I started my LG v20 running Android 8.0 and it had no problems under water iether, also logging out and back in again, and putting the app in the background.
Until one time I logged out and in, and the under water was black.
So I jumped back into my v20 running Android 7.0.1 and it too (having been in the background for a while) had black under water.
Logging out and closing the app fixed it.
But logging out and closing the app on the v20 running Android 8.0 did not fix it.
One interesting clue is, the second you go down below the water line, it turns black. But as you move up, just before your cross the water line, you can see under water for a fraction of a second, then you break the surface and have normal view under water as seen from land.
This is very reproducible.
Hopefully this gives someone a clue as to what's happening.
I have just requested to be in the beta program for minecraft, in the hope that I can give more useful feedback.
If there are any memory dumps or logs etc.. I can give, just let me know how.
Yes, still lg v20. I have a few of them (love the replaceable battery) so I will continue testing on them.
It's rather random but the fact that underwater is good, the switch app to background (to take a call, check email, etc..) invariably flips it so underwater is black.
I have found going out, closing completely the minecraft app, then back in again sometimes fixes the problem, however you may have to repeat this multiple times before it's fixed.
Trouble is, letting the app go into the background will turn all underwater black again.
So you just have to log off and close the app again multiple times until it is randomly fixed.
Very annoying bug.
Tonight I had this sequence :
Log into network game after a reboot earlier in the day. Go into water, black.
Log out of app and back in again, go into water OK.
Log out of app and back in again, go under water OK.
This make it seem like first time going into water will be black, but log out of app and back in again without rebooting device, underwater will be OK.
Very very strange.
More info.. It's Anoyingly frequent and inconsistent.
Log in, and under water is black.
Log out and back in again and underwater is ok.
Log out and back in again and underwater is black.
Log out and in again and underwater is still black.
Very random. I see no pattern yet.
Note this is now happening on my partners device (lg v20 with Android 8)
Is there any way of doing some diagnostics when it's happening to help fix this?
Workaround :
Start playing a LAN hosted network game (running betdrok server on win 10 pc)
Go into water and screen goes black.
Exit world.
Start a new local world on my Android device (same seed as LAN world but I don't think that is important)
Go into water and can see ok.
Exit local world and log back into LAN world.
Go onto water and I can see ok, not black!
So it appears to be related to the land connected world and somehow playing a local world fixed it.
I will continue to experiment.
It's happening for me again. I reboot my device almost daily. I have a sneaky suspicion the black underwater happens more frequently after a reboot, and less often if I let my phone run for a day or more. Makes no sense to me tho.
No packs installed. Running vanilla android version.
Anoyingly I logged into the game (I host a server on a win10 pc on my LAN for private use) and the water was back to normal.
So it's frustratingly intermittent.
Interestingly after a fresh rebook, the problem e isted but after a day of using using many different apps on my phone, the problem was not there (the opposite to what one would expect)
Complete black when underwater is happening on my Android - LG V20 running Android 8 an MC v1.0.9
Strangely it is not happening on my partners LG V20 Android 8 MC v1.0.9
I have rebooted my Android device but it makes no difference.
I saw this on the previous version MC v1.0.8 but it was intermittent and a reboot seemed to fix it.
Reboot is not fixing it now.
dont think it is the same as I can move, rotate, stop and start moving etc.. all the time my hand is bashing away at the surroundings.
It only happens when exiting water onto land if the action (hit things) button is pressed at the same time (somehow easy to do on a mobile device).
It only stops if you press the action button several times.
Happens with my friend who is also using an LG V20 Android phone and again, it has been happening for a month or two of updates.
Ok, thanks for that. This different to my issue then.
The issue we have is definitely network related, never happens in single player.
I will see if anyone else has the same issue.
Thanks
How can we change the effected version to the latest v1.2.10?
I think this describes the issues we have on MC PE Android (LG V20) v1.2.10
It is intermittent.
Playing wifi network miltiplayer.
Everything is fine for a while then all recieved information is processed in second blocks of movement:
A pig walking across the screen with jump instantly from one spot to the next in 1 second intervals.
Destroying blocks will show normal destruction animation but then a pause and instantly its a pile on the floor, not smoothly animated.
Movement of the effected player is normal but cant interact correctly with the world.
It does not effect all players, so one is getting normal information from the server while the other is stuttery and unplayable if aggressive mobs are around as they have no time to respond.
The workaround is to exit the game and remove MC PE from memory, then start again. But this may last half an hour or so then it can happen again.. or not. Very random but happens often.
So its related to network packets I guess but our wifi is fine and strong and often only one player can be effected.
We have been using WIn10 MC and hosting a game on that for 2 or more mobile devices to connect to. However this issue has been noticed for the last few versions and when directly connecting from one MC PE to another without connecting to the Win10 MC.
its always one of the clients to a server.
Still an issue in latest Android versions 1.20.5?
When using touch controls and moving forward in water you do not move in the direction of look. So we can't swim up without also holding the UP button. Which means two fingers on the screen so we can interact or change direction when swimming up.
Please just try swimming on a mobile device with touch input.
