I've checked it with the farm and once with just the composters. It looks like a nerf (of composters? of bonemeal?).

Of course, renaming on the anvil is bugged, but you Can rename items.
You have to put in and put out something into the anvil free slot while renaming an item.

Same on Win10. 3 backrolls in +/- 2 hours.
Probably it's a Realms related problem, not the platform.
