So because I played the snapshots like most others, my world won't generate new stuff? Which versions were considered "stable", and how would I have known that this would be the result?
I stayed on 21w42a even though 21w43a had come out. I misread and was under the assumption that the deepslate would exist without new cave generation below y=0 added later. When I skipped ahead to 21w44a, I saw the issue I am now having with the world gen. I loaded up my backup save from 21w42a, then loaded up to 21w43a. I explored the area under my base, but still saw no change. Still bedrock at the bottom. I didn't bother going back and forth between snapshots, so upgraded it again to 21w44a. I keep upgrading to the newest snapshots but see no change.
But if your question is, did this world exist before1.18 snapshots? Yes, this world was originally created in 1.16.
The world folder is located in this Dropbox link

Thank you
I have not seen any change or fix to this issue, or I don't understand why this issue exists. I am now in the 1.18 pre-release 2. There is still bedrock at y=0, and nothing generated below in old chunks. The world height minimum stops at y=0 in old chunks. Please provide an answer and a fix. Thanks.

In most existing areas, it seems that nothing has generated below y=0, and the bedrock remains there. In one pre-existing area of my world (a badlands biome), deepslate did generate in place of bedrock below 0, but no other new generation, as was expected.
I see the same exact issue.
So I tested out something. I made an exact copy of my world folder and put it under another name, loaded in a previous backup (non-snapshot) from mid-October, and upgraded to Pre-release 5. The new generation did form underneath, which is good. The thing that bums me out is that up to the point that I had played through the snapshots until now, in the unstable world, I had worked and completed new builds. So if I change to this other copy, I lose all the stuff I built between then and now. Is there no other fix to this, to the bugged version?
