We are having this issue right now in our realm. The farmers in Charlottetown were working fine up until about  The time of the last update.  The farmers then continued to harvest the wheat, but would not pick replant the seeds.

Just realized this is a Java post...will try to find this bug on the Bedrock side, since we're bedrock.

I've read the test done by @unknown using the test world, and thanks for the diligence in reproducing this bug.  You mention the ticking area, and while im not familiar with this, i'm assuming its tied to the town bell?

If so, could a potential interim fix for larger towns, be placing town bells in series to encompass/create more/larger ticking areas?

I noticed a "can not reproduce" in the ticket history.  The next time we experience this in one of our towns, we can let someone into our Realm, so they can see it.

Still having this problem.... We play on Xbox one in our Microsoft Realm, currently upgraded to 1.16.1.  This bug has been seen off and on for almost a year now.

When we encounter a town we 'save' it, but putting up walls, making sure that there are enough employment blocks and making improvements (bigger library, larger farms etc.).  We build a house for us to sleep in while we are there, and put it either 20+ blocks up from the highest point of the town, or 20+ blocks below (in order to keep any villagers from claiming our beds using their 16 block detection range).  In many towns we then experience a situatione where we have gone away to explore or build or something, and when we come back there are more vilagers than beds in the town....sometimes TWICE as many villagers as beds in the town.  Some of the villagers that we traded with and got to max level are still there, but some are not.  Some of the 'new' villagers are now level one in their professions, and others are just unemployed.

This has happened to me as well.  We play 1.16.1 on Xbox one, on a Microsoft Realm.  we have an underwater monument that we have taken over, and drained the water out of.  the bottom 'farm level' which is between the ocean floor and the bottom of the monument, has a mix of glass blocks and glass panes between the pillars so that we could remove the water, bring in animals and set up farming.  the glass blocks frame along the bottom with window panes above that filling in the rest of the open area.

With all of the panes in, drowned can still hit me through the panes don't think they can through the blocks)

We play on Xbox one, on a Microsoft Realm.  We have experienced this problem for the last year, but intermittently and sporadically.   The usual scenario for us is that my wife has traded with a villager and achieved max level for that villager....most often the Librarians and the Farmers that then get nametags so we can tell Mr. Carrot from Mr. Potato. and Mr. Mender, from Ms Unbreaking.  with no breaking of stations, or trying to transport the villagers anywhere (our towns are walled with Golems and villagers are allowed to free roam within the walls)  we will show up one day.....and they've just decided to change professions.  Ms. Efficiency 5 is now a Fisherman!

This issue is most definitely still happening.  We play on 1.16.1 on XBOX one in a microsoft realm.  I cant say how to duplicate the issue, as it does not always happen, but it appears to happen when there's a logjam of 2 villagers trying to get out of the door at once.

I have seen this same behavior.  I was thinking that it was attributed to an inability of the villager to be able to probelm-solve / pathfind.

From what i've seen, when they are standing against the wall of a building, there is often a bed in that building that they are trying to get to.  they will pathfind a bit, but not enough to go all the way around the building to find the door to go in.

I am playing on a realm, and i'm seeing this also.  Sometimes it seems to correct itself when we've all logged off for a while and come back in to the Realm, but in this latest villiage (found 5 DEC) we bread them (4 per) often.....no growth.

We are seeing the same issue, although not on as large a scale.  My Wife and I are both on Bedrock Edition on Xbox, seperate consoles, playing on a Realm.

We have saved several towns, put up walls, and ensured employment for villagers, and increased our Librarian section in each town, with between 4-8 librarians.  We use nametags and name them to quickly identify them by what they are selling (Mr. Mender, Ms. Unbreakable, Ms. Silky, etc).  We do the same thing with Farmers (Mr. Carrot, Mr. Wheat, Mr. Potato, etc).  We have had Librarians change professions AFTER being leveled up to master - for example, we lost Ms. Efficiency IV as a librarian, when we came back one day and she was now a fisherman.  Likewise, my wife had leveled Mr. Carrot in one town, up to a master level farmer, and he decided one day that he would now be a Librarian.....selling bookshelves....
