hi, i just followed this advice and deleted that file from my minecraft directory with no luck. Consistently had this error, can anyone help? 

this has been happening to me too for months and exactly the same situation 

there is not a file with that name in my Minecraft folder. 

im having a super similar problem but running on Mac OS
