I'm commenting here since another similar bug was resolved as "Won't fix" because of this one: if I am doing it correctly, the problem persists. This is the command I used:

/summon Fireball ~1 ~ ~ {ExplosionPower:5,direction:[0.0,0.0,0.0],power:[0.0,0.0,0.0]}

It still has jittery movement, snapshot 15w51b.

Any reason why this will not be fixed?

Still happens in 15w49b.

What do you mean with "other ways"? The reporter provided a way to do it in vanilla. Even if Mojang is going to change the format, we don't know when, and in the meanwhile we have a format that isn't working as it should. A quick fix is necessary here.

This issue should be reopened. Closing an issue (that is clearly an issue, because it worked before) as "not a bug" is not corrent, moreover without even giving a proper reason. Is Mojang still planning a plugin API? Because that's not how to do it. You should not ignore an issue just because it doesn't affect vanilla.

Could you add a video? It's probably related.

Please don't change the behaviour of minecarts with blocks, because they're useful for mapmakers and decorations, you can have diagonal/moving blocks.
