Updated to 1.16.10 still unable to access the app through wifi. Freezing at start up. Reinstalling only yields the "Sorry something went wrong" error at sign in. Only able to play when data is enabled and switching to wifi after sign in is completed.
On iphone 11 running ios 13.5.1 with a brand new account and brand new app download marks same error on first attempt on wifi connection. Sign in through cellular data successful, the subsequent app start ups on wifi are erratic in behavior, first it logs in automatically, next try it either requests the sign in info again only to display the same error screen or the screen freezes on the game menu.
The workaround is still not reliable since users report in MCPE-78342 that sign in through cellular data can also yield the same error screen “Sorry, something went wrong try again later or try on xbox.com”. Can confirm the first cellular network i used to bypass this issue no longer works and have since had to use a different one to attempt the above.
Disabling wifi while the app loads results in crashes or the screen freezing as of 1.16.0
Currently the only workaround is to use cellular data to complete sign in and then switch to wifi and keep the app idling since once it’s fully closed it’ll revert to freezing on loading screen.
As it stands the game can’t be accessed through wifi alone without deleting the XBLStoage.json file (which signs you out of your microsoft account once again) or bypassing the starting screens through cellular data and switching to wifi once login is completed, this no longer results in crashes as it did in 1.14.60.
Affected device is ipad mini 2 running 12.4.7 (which is the latest update for this gen)
Can confirm what Eder PC is experiencing. Login through cellular data is successful and happy to report that switching to wifi after signing in to your account no longer produces crashes! However the game must be kept idling because once closed the app won’t go past the loading screen, you’d have to activate your data to bypass the starting screens and then switch to wifi. As it stands the game cannot complete sign in on wifi connection alone and can’t be started without deleting the aforementioned files first (effectively losing your log in once again). But be weary of this workaround because my first attempt to sign in through data produced the same error screen as it does on wifi, it wasn’t until i tried with a different never before used cellular network that the game successfully logged me back on correctly.
Running 1.16.0 on ios, can confirm xbox live sign in error has not been resolved. Updated behavior on MCPE-78342
Having the same issue as Will Harding with sign in on 1.16.0 on an iPad.
Have updated the behavior on MCPE-78342
This bug persists in 1.16.0 have updated the behavior on MCPE-78342
Does this warrant opening a new ticket?
Can confirm this bug persists in 1.16.0 same behavior as described in my comment above. With a back up of a previous version of the XBLStoage.json the launch is successful and sign in is completed resulting in immediate crash, any attempt to launch the app with the file in place results in the game getting stuck in the loading screen or crashing. Launching without the file and attempting to sign in produces the same error screen “Sorry, something went wrong. Try again or try on xbox.com”. All of this happening on wifi connection, can’t verify cellular data at the moment.
List of tickets i’ve cycled through since i began having issues with the xbox live sign in all seem to be related to the file previously mentioned XBLStoage.json
Unable to sign in to xbox live account “sorry something went wrong, try again later or try on xbox.com” error: MCPE-78342
Unable to sign in to xbox live account, stuck on green loading screen: MCPE-56695
App crashes when wifi enabled (also xbox live log-in related): MCPE-29021
The only way to access the game at all at the moment is to delete the XBLStoage.json file, if not the app remains stuck on loading screen. Curiously once i can get the app running after removing the file i can then exit the app and place a back-up of it when i last was able to successfully log in, entering the app again and attempting to sign in actually produces the “welcome back” screen along with my gamertag meaning it has signed me back up correctly (you can see why i was hopeful enough to update this ticket once again) unfortunately the app crashes immediately after. This ticket has reports of similar crashes and workarounds MCPE-20548 none of these have yielded an actual permanent solution.
Enabled two step verification to my microsoft account in hopes that this would force the app to verify my login but the same error is displayed even with the security code measure.
Since experiencing this bug with the xbox live sign in: MCPE-78342 i have followed the issue to this ticket. Have since attempted and successfully logged into the game through cellular data only for the game to crash when wifi is enabled back again. Deleting the aforementioned files resulted once again in the error screen “sorry something went wrong, try again later or try on xbox.com”. When the XBLStoage.json file is created after successful log in any attempt to access the app on wifi connection results in crashes or the game getting stuck in the minecraft loading screen.
Please refer to bug MCPE-29021 as this seems to be related.
I have since tried to use cellular data to enter the game and the minecraft app automatically logged me in to my xbox live account, subsequently a XBLStoage.json file was created in the game files that was not previously there since i reinstalled the game. Proceeded to attempt to use my wifi network now that the game had presumably resolved and stored my xbox live log in information only for the game to remain stuck in the splash screen. Is there any reason why the log in would be successful through a never before used cellular network but not through a trusted wifi network?
An older report of this instance on: https://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/xbox/forum/all/error-with-ios-ipad-minecraft-login-something-went/9de62c81-7a21-4c3c-bf21-32e16ba48ac4
this user claims that a fix involves trying a different network or cellular data to sign in as the log in site seems to block known networks and/or ips, however recently users report having tried different devices, resetting their network settings, changing networks resulting in the same error screen.
Have attempted contacting xbox support to no avail, the usual advice is to uninstall the app and signing out of the microsoft account and to try to relog after reinstalling it. This has mixed results but to many has not yielded a solution. Heres the link with most interaction i’ve found on the xbox support forum: https://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/xbox/forum/all/minecraft-pe-cant-login-to-microsoft-account/1f9b2537-262f-41ef-9c9f-abd9399d6c23
Seems to mirror this issue MCPE-78342 seen several tickets reporting being able to access their microsoft accounts otherwise
If your issue is similar to the one described here MCPE-78342 please vote, follow and comment on that ticket
Can confirm this issue is also on switch and ios for me. Checked to see if any other character creator items were affected and it seems to just be the eyes for some reason. I had a different set of eyes than the op of this report but mine have also been removed as of this update (1.19.51)
