After some looking around I realized that this was in an ocean biome. Giving consideration to this, however, doesn't make it any more logical that every single cave within 5<y<20 would all be flooded where there is a floor of approximately y=60. Some makes sense, but definitely not every single one.

The one on the wall outside is only 2-3 blocks down, I don't have the game open to be able to count right now.

For the hallway, yes I'm sure. There are doors both behind where I'm standing as well as on every room, every room also has a 5x5x5 space with a torch on every wall 1 block from the floor, except where the doors are is 2 spaces up. The door behind me is iron with levers inside and out while the others are spruce and always closed unless I just used the room and haven't left the structure yet, which is the case with those 2 front ones. None of those doors are broken.

another area (hallway) in which zombies keep spawning image attached with zombie missing as this wasn't possible without getting attacked. (there are a few torches out of frame, just inside each doorway as well as the wall behind me)

@merek, the fact that the green goes 2 blocks in one direction and 3 in the other.. smh.. this makes me question how bad the first one was that that's the better one...

Anyway, I just noticed, as can be seen by the whiteness on the front wall, there's an additional torch on the front of the structure that should be within range to affect things as well.

The torch to the right is diagonally 5 blocks away - that's within 6 is it not?

But yes, they're spawning within 6 blocks as well, on the platform that holds the building in that image, however those ones are not something I can get a picture of, I've had them throw me off the edge for trying, resulting in instant death.

On Xbox one, game version 1.17.2, anytime that I switch to an app (which is supposed to be allowable on this console - one game, and one app) then switch back, the game reloads itself, disconnecting from any servers or terminating the local game - this also corrupts the savegame data.

If you're able to connect to others'and just not that friend's or your own, that's clearly an issue on your guys' part, not an issue with the game.

Some suggestions)
1) if you're on the same network, ensure wmm is disabled, as this may interfere with local device communication.
2) some internet providers will disable certain ports, or prevent unsolicited incoming connections
3) try having other friends connect to yours or your friends' session, to see if they're unable to join as well.
4) if you're ina multi-layer network (a modem plus a router, or 2+ routers connected to one another) this may interfere as well - ensure that there are as few layers as possible.

While I'm not a mod or helper and you don't have to listen to me, I do hope that you'll consider this.

On 1.17.2, I've seen one thunderstorm in over 100 in-game days (not sure exactly how many days as I'm not sure how to find that on Xbox one) and while I don't mind, this seems a lot more infrequent than it should be.

On the Xbox one s, I stall at 46% as well. Haven't seen any crashes or anything but the two minute stall is definitely an issue.

@ocelot, I did try the search feature actually, it brought up 50 results and, of which, only one had anything to do with torches, about 20 results down, even though the exact term that I searched was "torch" so you guys need to either fix your search function or stop recommending it like it's currently Halloween and the search function is the candy....

I've honestly been dropping a torch every 7 blocks just cuz this glitch has been causing mobs to be able to spawn in these areas.. I wouldn't mind so much if it was just visual..

@branko, it happens everywhere, I also don't know how to get chunk borders on Xbox.

In order to check my claims I created a brand new map/savegame and used the fill command to clear 0<y<20 of all dirt, stone, water, lava, etc. and was able to find about 60 diamonds total within thousands of blocks. (Roughly a 140x20x140 area - I may have done the math wrong but I believe this is hundreds of thousands)

The gamesave was created since the most recent patch on the console, so new chunks I'd imagine. It doesn't specify hotfix on the main menu but the bug is still very much happening.

I've been seeing this issue as well, any time that there is more than 15 animals around or when I resurface from underground mining.

Relevant to this, I've had wheat, carrots and seeds vanish upon harvest.
