i had this same issue at the start of the month, it seemed that using a VPN to set my location to the nearest location to me i was able to validate my login, otherwise it'd say "Player" at the bottom instead of my username and "Play Demo" instead of "Play Online"
alt1.png and alt2.png have 2 different versions of the same skin, alt1 is 64x32 while alt2 is 64x64, this best shows just how the skin is correctly displayed in 64x64 but not correct for 64x32
