Take a shulker box
rename it with an anvil
place it (name already gone)
break it
name gone
easy as that.

Can confirm, may WAI, but doesn't seem logical as we can rename chests now.

The block supports CustomName:"Shulky the Box" which does make the title display "Shulky the Box" but even then, on breaking it, it drops without name.

@unknown cannot, and shouldn't be "WaI", as Mojang sees the potential in Shulker Boxes themself (they hinted some things when they were showing them off) - so if it shall have uses also for the technical community, renaming them + keeping their name is mandatory.

I can affirm this happens, I don't think this is an intended feature since we can name chests.

Interestingly, if I pick-block a pre-filled shulkerbox and place it down, it has kept the display name when you open the shulker box, but it does not display that very same name in your player inventory, when you hover over that shulker box. (Screenshot attached)
YAY \ö/ that was fast, thanks Mr. Broes }=)

You can´t put coal in furnance. It chrashed the game. I mean i putted 64 coal and it chrashed.

@unknown that's completely unrelated to this ticket. But it's fixed for the next snapshot.

There is still a problem in 16w39b: If I pickblock a renamed shulkerbox and place it down, it still got its custom name inside its GUI, but not when you hover over the shulker box (it's basically the same picture I uploaded in a, the 3rd atm in this bugpost).

That seems intended, that's shared among all of the blocks that keep the name.

@FVBico: Then I'd say its a bug with all blocks that keep the name. 😛 It's not really useful to rename the boxes if you can't see their name when holding them in your hand.

You Copy the all tags to the BlockEntityTag tag of the item, nothing else, copying to custom name too does double the work for the same result.
Confirmed, Screenshots attached, one with a renamed shulkerbox, one a renamed chest; unlike chest, Shulkerbox' name gets lost already upon placing it down.
