teleporting via /tp or server commands, or joining a world will cause all chests within the same chunk to lose all NBT data, and fail to load the block entity, until interacted with; interacting with a chest that fails to load with this chunk error, will cause the block entity to appear, however, all NBT data associated with the chest will vanish

My 3 house chests were empty when I just logged on. I started the world last night. I'm not sure when they became empty. I did zone into the nether briefly for the first time as one of the last things I did before logging off last night, and the portal is very close to the house (as above person was speculating).
The chests were first invisible when I logged on today and then when I right-clicked them, they became visible (but empty). I'm afraid to play this version any more. Please fix ASAP so I can keep testing. 😃

Same happened to me on single-player when I opened my world and closed it with "Save and Exit" as soon as it opened. (It didn't even have time to load properly.)
Same bug happened with 18w44a after transporting a villager through the Nether and going to the portal, all chests empty on the chunk where the said portal was standing in the Overworld.
