18w47a is extremely laggy
I'm having a LOT of issues with lag (single player) on this snapshot. Loading my world from the previous snapshot in this one for the first time took nearly a minute, during which my character was standing on the edge of a cutoff where nothing would load in, and moving made me fall through the world repeatedly before it finished loading.
So far I've had lag issues with breaking and placing blocks, using a hoe on dirt, and hitting mobs, as well as mob movement, leaves not despawning/dropping items despite nearby logs having been removed, farmland not turning dark/saturating from water, and saplings and planted food not growing. The mob lag is bad enough that fighting them is almost certain death (on normal).
Most of the non-mob lag is much less disruptive, except that the lag in breaking blocks can sometimes cause blocks to reappear and then stay as if they'd never been broken.
ETA: Noticing that the sky also lags and reverses a small amount every few seconds, and at least once now I have completely rubberbanded on a boat, shooting back at least 10 blocks or so. The water-droplet trails when a fish is approaching your cast fishing line, will stop/disappear for a moment before resuming their movement. Rain also makes all lag worse, as could be expected.

The whole point of me reporting this issue is so it can be fixed... Some snapshots are laggy but most aren't, but very very few are this bad, nearly unplayable.
Consistency usually shows where an issue lies. My computer can consistently play almost every single minecraft snapshot with no (lag) issue, so when one snapshot is different and doesn't work, especially on the same world that has already been working just fine, the difference is clearly on the game's side, because the game is what's changed, not my computer.

'very very few are this bad, nearly unplayable'. Well, not for everybody. This snapshot runs smoothly on my computer. I wasn't sure this was snapshot's problem or something else. I never experienced any lag on any snapshot (except for ones that was caused by my bad computer) tbh sooo.... I'm not sure ;P

I'm saying that it's rare for them to be this bad for people...

maybe you are talking about incompatibility of some snapshots and java versions/video drivers/ etc? Again, I don't feel any lags in 18w47a... They will fix it. So just wait ;D

I've also had this issue with this snapshot. It doesnt happen when i load worlds on the last one, but this one is nearly unplayable

I am also having this exact issue, minecraft was working fine for my world until I upgraded it from 18w46a to 18w47a. I am backing it up before upgrading so I can backtrack if i need to.

The issues I am having are definitely similar and likely related to those reports, but I am not solely having these problems when loading chunks like those suggest. If I stay within the same chunk, say, fishing in one spot with the render distance down to just 4 chunks that are visibly loaded, I will continue to have the exact same issues.

After getting marginally better for a few snapshots, as of the last several (currently affecting 19w05a, as well as the last two or three before that), this has returned as a serious issue. Maybe every ten to fifteen blocks I mine, I am rubberbanded back up to several solid seconds. Obviously this makes play extremely difficult. Why does this even become an issue in some snapshots and not others? Frustrating as all hell!

I have been having this issue again as of 19w97a and 19w08a/b. This is NOT related to loading new chunks, and is bad enough to have led to several mob-caused deaths already simply due to the lag, especially during combat.
Well, every snapshot is created for some purpose. If you are suffering from lags in snapshot – in main version it will be fixed. Though I can't understand why 18w47a is extremely laggy for you. I have even worse computer and I don't feel any lags... Actually this might be a disk problem if you are running world on your own computer.
