The hotbar placement of items is prioritized from right to left when shift-clicking items in GUI output slots

The Bug:

The hotbar placement of items is prioritized from right to left when shift-clicking items in GUI output slots.

When picking up items off the ground, the hotbar placement is prioritized from left to right, therefore introducing an inconsistency when shift-clicking items in GUI output slots.

Steps to Reproduce:

  1. Place down a crafting table and obtain some wooden planks.

  2. Ensure that your hotbar is empty, open the crafting table, and use the recipe book to select the crafting of some sticks.

  3. Craft the sticks by shift-clicking the crafting table output slot, and as you do this, watch your hotbar closely.

  4. Take note as to whether or not the hotbar placement of items is prioritized from right to left when shift-clicking items in GUI output slots.

Observed Behavior:

The hotbar placement of items is prioritized from right to left.

Expected Behavior:

The hotbar placement of items would be prioritized from left to right.

I used to experience this, or some similar problem with items not moving to the expected slot when shift-clicking, but I just tried it in 1.5.1, and I think it's been fixed.

Confirmed. Can also replicate on latest snapshot.

EDIT:
Seems to only occur from the output of a process (eg. crafting/smelting).

Confirmed for the output of crafting.

This is a long standing bug. It is still present in 1.7.5

It's interesting to me that the behavior is reversed for some slots (e.g. crafting output, chests) but not for others (e.g. crafting input, armor).

I'm curious what the reasoning behind this "inconsistency" is so I can bring my mods more in line with vanilla behavior. It seems there's a pattern of inputs being forward and outputs being reversed, but blocks like chests somewhat buck that trend, unless you consider all the content slots to be "output" slots.

is anyone found how to fix that having same issue
