Crafting certain white flowers yields light gray dye instead of white dye

The bug

Crafting certain flowers that are white yields light gray dye instead of white dye as expected. All flowers that are affected were introduced before 1.14. For example, take a white tulip and notice how it crafts into light gray dye. In contrast, the lily of the valley, which was introduced in 1.14, crafts into white dye as expected.

Affected flowers

  1. White Tulip

  2. Oxeye Daisy

  3. Azure Bluet

Confirmed. The affected flowers are the azure bluet, the oxeye daisy, and the white tulip.

This used to be the case because white dye used to be bone meal, and it didn't make sense to get that from flowers. That is no longer the case.

Happens in 1.14.2-Pre-release 3

This would work better as a suggestion instead of a bug. It would be better to move this to the feedback website as this was intentional before the introduction of white dye and has stayed that way since. I think however, we still need to keep one of them (maybe the azure bluet) that makes light gray dye and give the change to the white tulip and oxeye daisy.

Yea, becuase it makes sense. This isnt a bug

White Dye is expected for white flowers, aceplante. Additionally, this already has a priority assigned by Mojang, meaning it is not intended/they want to change it; that directly contradicts your "This isnt a bug".

Can confirm in 1.21.4.
