Mob cap in the hundreds to over 1000 per player.

This is at my [Guardian Farm| on a vanilla server. The [entity cap| has no reached way higher than it possibly should.

I don't think the operating system I use matters, since it's on a server and not singleplayer. The entities keep rising the more I stay in the area.

I should also mention the server's chunk rendering distance is set to 4, and the mob cap was never changed by the owner.

Out of 30 players on my server, I have many players with over 500 and some even topping 1000 entites for no apparent reason. Most of the mobs appear to be hostiles in caves and mineshafts, however, cod and guardians are also getting out of hand. Render distance was 5 and then changed to 6 with no real difference, difficulty is set to normal.

Ah, yes, forgot to mention the difficulty is hard. Ty Alex.

Difficulty shouldn't influence the mob spawning though.

This issue might be the same, or at least caused by MC-151337.

I had thought it could be related Violine, but I realized it's not really that the mob cap is being hit on just 1 person, it was everyone was getting the same numbers in that screenshot. I can't get any screenshots of all of us getting it at once, as the owner has turned off mob spawning for now so we can play.

It's almost as if there was no mob cap, it just kept climbing.

I'm an admin on Alex's server - at a player's base there were 500 entities mostly guardians. I kept sending them to the void but within a minute they were back. It's almost as if the mob cap has become a minimum and the mobs keep trying to spawn until the mob cap is reached.

Also saw huge nos of wither skellies and blazes by another player, so it happens in the nether too

The reporter of MC-152536 suggests that this might be caused by mobs not despawning properly.

Note: I afk inside a mob spawner farm ( report: MC-152536) and I'm the only player in my world.

how couldn't they despawn even if I travel 2048 blocks away that equivalent to 128 chunks?

It maybe be caused by the lag but I"m not sure if its that the one that causing it.

Despawning (in afk mob farms) in other worlds I created is working.

I suggest they should create a spawn cap of 64 mobs inside a mob farm.

dayum I should have put Redstone lamp and tnt that could kill and stop hundreds of spiders inside the farm.

This seems to be caused by the hackfix for MC-149420. Mobs in lazy chunk don't count towards the mobcap anymore. Also related to MC-151144.
