Item models render too high / outside of their hitbox

The bug

The model for item entities floats too high. This makes the model be outside of the entity's hitbox.

How to reproduce

  1. Activate hitboxes with F3+B

  2. Throw an item on the floor
→ ❌ You can see that his model far exceeds his hitbox

That video has me convinced of the importance of this bug getting fixed. If anyone's looking at the description and the screenshot and doesn't see it as a big deal, WATCH THE VIDEO! It's about how this bug looks when items floating in water are in an enclosed underwater space so they've floated to the ceiling (and are taking turns hiding inside the ceiling blocks).

So your solution is just to lower the animation slightly or at least be reduced when underwater and stay the same (currently) on the surface

Can someone at least extend the hitbox height so items stop going invisible through underwater ceilings?

It's been 5 years since update aquatic caused this bug to become an issue with items going through ceilings in ocean monuments, it should have immediately been caught through playtesting.

Confirmed 1.20.4

Affects 1.20.5 pre-release 4.
