The Bug:

Trapdoors are rendered too dark when blocks are placed adjacent to them while smooth lighting is enabled.

Steps to Reproduce:

  1. Enable smooth lighting and place down a trapdoor.

  2. Place blocks all around the trapdoor.

  3. Take note as to whether or not trapdoors are rendered too dark when blocks are placed adjacent to them while smooth lighting is enabled.

Observed Behavior:

Trapdoors are rendered too dark.

Expected Behavior:

Trapdoors would not be rendered too dark.

I don't think that placing the blocks around them contributes to the issue, but rather its a constant "thing".

This issue seems to be fixed in 20w48a. I've attached some screenshots which prove this.

Further investigating regarding this issue has brought to light the fact that you must have smooth lighting enabled in order to reproduce this, hence why I was unable to confirm this in the past. This also affects 1.17.1.

This also affects pistons, but I think that might be a separate issue.
