The bug
If you see a creeper, you save the game when you hear the hissing sound. When you return to the world, the creeper will explode in front of you and you will not take any damage or die.
This affects all kinds of damage (arrows, potions etc.)
Note: MC-212 and MC-160051 should remain separate for now as they both have different implications/exploits and different situations attributed to causing them

Is this still a concern in the current Minecraft version? If so, please update the affected versions in order to best aid Mojang ensuring bugs are still valid in the latest releases/pre-releases.
When i report this bug was 1.6.1, now 1.6.2 same thing.
This is because the game now uses internal server, and it was default server behavior to grant full immunity to all players upon login for several seconds in an attempt to prevent camping.
Possible solution is to remove this invincibility, but only in singleplayer/InternalServer
Yeah, yeah, the same is when you fall from a high place and quit the world, turn back, you will not die!

The question is rather if the player should have any resistance against damage after respawning in Singleplayer at all and if the resistance should only protect against PvP damage
