On Java Edition, Warped and Crimson Stems use a mostly flatly coloured wood ring on their top texture.

On Bedrock Edition, they use a texture with the respective veins on the wood ring.

Mojang will decide which one is WAI.

Can confirm this in both 1.17.1 and 1.18 Pre-release 2. I've attached a side-by-side comparison of the textures in java edition and bedrock edition.
