I am experiencing an issue where Minecraft would increase the memory usage rapidly, even if the character is motionless or not (moving and/or looking around).
It would do a loop where it would start at 852MB (20%) of memory, it would increase up to 2095MB (51%), then drop back down to 852MB.
[media]This cycle causes my laptop to overheat severely as my RAM is being cycled every second of Minecraft being open. This causes a thermal hibernation. Whilst my computer is trying to hibernate, it is still overheating which causes the thermal hibernation twice every second in Event Viewer.

What you see in that gif is what happens every couple seconds. Sure it is a gif, of course it would be looped, but my point still stands: what you see in the gif is what actually happens in real-time.
Minecraft is cycling the RAM that is given each second, which causes more power to be used, and increase thermals.
"RAM Cycling" is dangerous when it comes to the longevity of your computer. In most cases, a trojan would use RAM cycling to make enough space to execute a malicious piece of code.
This is normal behavior as far as I can remember, the RAM usage cycling is not indicative of a leak. This is most likely just caused by the garbage collector activity.
This bug sounds like a serious problem, although its not properly labelled, since this is not a memory leak.
Turns out 1 of my fans were spinning at 80RPM and the other one was spinning at 5200RPM. Had to modify the 2nd fan's thermal multiplier up to the max (which was 20x) and it started spinning at 1700RPM. I no longer have these thermal shutdown issues. So it had nothing to do with Minecraft, HP just did an awful job at their BIOS updates.
I now request this "bug" report to be closed.
I think I have the same issue. After I started playing on 1.17.1 Minecraft started to lag more and if I play for too long crash with OutOfMemoryException error and sometimes even crashing my video drivers. This didn't happen to me on 1.16.5 and earlier versions and doesn't happen in other games.
