Breaking the bottom of a stack of banners breaks all other banners instantaneously

Relates to MC-139273, MC-147061, MC-151622, MC-151623, MC-151624, MC-151625, MC-183377 and MC-206567.

Here are some extra details regarding this problem.

The Bug:

Banners all get destroyed at the same time when their supporting block gets destroyed.

Steps to Reproduce:

• Summon a tower of banners.

/fill ~1 ~ ~1 ~1 ~20 ~1 minecraft:white_banner

• Destroy the bottom supporting block of the banners.

• Take note as to whether or not banners all get destroyed at the same time when their supporting block gets destroyed.

Observed Behavior:

Banners all get destroyed at the same time when their supporting block gets destroyed.

Expected Behavior:

Banners would all get destroyed gradually when the bottom supporting block gets destroyed.

Can confirm in 1.18.2.

This is confirmed to all the versions that had a banner.

Mojang possibly made this a feature.

Can confirm in 1.19.

Can confirm in 1.18.2. The same happens with a stack of torches.

Things such as graphics, sounds, world creation, biomes, redstone, villagers, and animals may not work the same in current versions.
