The Bug:
There are no shadows on text displayed within a variety of UIs.
Text displayed within titles, chat, tooltips, buttons, etc... have text shadows and the use of this makes text more legible, however, this isn't the case with a wide variety of UIs, therefore introducing an inconsistency.
Here is a table that lists all pieces of text that don't have shadows within UIs. Please note that there could be more not listed below.
Text within? | Does the text displayed within this UI have any shadows? | Screenshot Example |
---|---|---|
Inventory | No | [media] |
First time tutorial, recipe, backup, and advancement toasts | No | [media] |
All interactable blocks (chest, furnace, anvil, etc...)Â | No | [media] |
Singleplayer, multiplayer, and realms lists | No | [media] |
Social interactions names | No | [media] |
Superflat customization list | No | [media] |
Steps to Reproduce:
Locate the text within any UI as listed above.
Take note as to whether or not there are shadows on text displayed within a variety of UIs.
Observed Behavior:
There are no shadows on text displayed within a variety of UIs.
Expected Behavior:
There would be shadows on text displayed within all UIs.

@unknown, I do agree with you, but it's a general inconsistency with other text displayed throughout the game, hence the reason for reporting it. This may not be an issue as you said, so I guess we'll leave Mojang to decide whether it is or not. 🙂
This is more a feature request than an inconsistency. It is consistent in the sense that if text does not have a chance of being seen on a fluctuating background (like nametags, etc), it does not use a shadow.
Since some of these text elements now display above a panorama, which should be a fluctuating background per the criteria, as of Minecraft 1.20.5's UI changes, should this issue's resolution be re-evaluated?
We looked at this and concluded that it is a reasonable request, but these should be filed as separate issues.
Bro, not every text in the game needs to have shadows. You finding 500 examples of that is evidence of that fact
