Sky Light level hostile mob requirements causes biomes like Dark Forests to be completely devoid of hostile mobs.

Some of the changes to light and spawn requirements caused unique biomes like the Dark Forest biome to no longer have any sort of hostile mobs in them during daytime like it used to have before.

It's better this way, trust me.

The changes supposed to affect Block light only from what i recall.

So you don't have to light up every single corner of cave , house , village to prevent mobs from spawning.

But Sky Light wasn't supposed to be touched so there is something wrong here. And it just makes originaly hostile surface biomes just barren and borring since Sky Light cannot ever reach 0 in those during day.

Fix for this would in no way affect you needing to place 1000 torches to safeproof an area if that's what you are worried about. Block light and Sky Light are separate things.

Sky Light level requirements have not changed. This is somewhat of a misconception of how the mob spawning works.

Then why are hostile mobs not spawning anymore in Dark Forests in 1.18 during daytime? Yet they are in 1.17

Clearly something is wrong

I have tested this the other day, and mobs are clearly still spawning in dark oak forests during daytime.

I've been testing this for hours across different snapshots and pre releases no hostile mobs ever appear in Dark Forests during daytime in 1.18 versions.

While in 1.17 and 1.16 i barely need to wait few seconds before i'm getting shot by skeletons and harassed by creepers.

You are probably confused and saw mobs leave a cave entrance or a hole in Dark Forest cause that's the only way the can spawn in daytime in 1.18. They can no longer spawn under the canopies themselves.

You cannot make assumptions based on the small sample of data you have. As I said already, the mobs can still spawn. The only difference there may be is the fact that there are now more spaces for mobs to spawn underground, so the chances for the mob to appear in dark oak forest may be reduced.

No changes specifically have been made to this. The world is now much bigger beneath your feet, leading to less mobs being able to spawn on the surface. I ran a few tests today to confirm in 1.18 and 1.17. Nothing has been affected this way.

This bug is still invalid as it is a bit of a misinterpretation of what is happening. Dark Forests do have a higher chance of mob spawning, but not nearly as much as the caves below you.
