Doesn't save progress in Realms Java Edition

My wife had the same issue on our Realms server today after breeding and transporting frogs.

As a follow-up, she logged on, received a notice that an unknown error occurred, tried again and got in and placed a couple of tadpoles, some blocks, then logged out for about 15 minutes before logging back in (again an unknown error message).  All progress lost again.

Tried one more time only placing blocks.  Now, she keeps getting the unknown error occurred message after attempting to relog and is unable to connect.

Same for me. My husband and I were playing and lost about 4 hours. We tried again when we could log back on and it happened again after 20 minutes.

This could be fixed if they allowed us to manually back up our service, with the option to force it to cloud or our PC for when cloud is having trouble with actual backups.

It would also help if we could download the backup to our computers, then upload from that backup for when cloud service has an issue with it's database.

We lost about 2 hours of progress in our realm today. I tried several things to fix the issue (see my ticket # MC-252927). Sorry for the duplicate ticket.

I lost about 5 hours work, logged out came back and progress was gone. Tried it again and problem keeps happening

Same. Started after son and I made it to the End, but I assume related to the new release somehow.

Many hours of work progress/work reset since, twice now.   

Confirmation Status can safely reflect confirmed at this point.

Let now know if you need someone to repro.

Adding to this as well. Same issue here. Submitted the ticket but it was marked as duplicate and tied to this one. Hope this gets resolved soon...

I lost 4+ hours of mining, building,etc with my friends last night. It is very frustrating since it takes away the point of playing this game. The main reason I bought a realm wasnt to have to go back and do everything again, it is very unfun to have to do everything again, or to use my ''server admin'' cheats to give stuff back to compensate this bug. i played from 8h30 to 2h30 approximately and the last back up is at 10h30...

Happened approx at 10 am and 10pm (twice yea) june 12th.

Same here. Went caving, didn't save after husband and I logged out. We used a backup to no avail, after several attempts on the backup and several other different tries, we had a backup save progress. Under the misguided assumption we fixed the issue, we built a portal and went exploring in the nether. We logged off a few hours later. I log out and back in about a minute later to see if everything was there, all good to go! This morning, everything was reverted back, nothing saved, no backup exists (which is confusing because of the check on saved progress before I headed to bed).

I am also having this issue. I lost quite a few hours of progress because the realm did not save my work two different times yesterday. 

This has also happened to me, my last backup of the world is at 4:00 P.M. 6/12. Even though I have played multiple hours more on the world. Hopefully, the progress is not lost and is still saved somewhere at Mojang headquarters. =/

I'll throw my story in as well. We had defeated the ender dragon twice and were mapping out End City islands last evening and this morning, none of that was saved. I'm hoping they can find a stable restore point that includes effort from last night.

Same!  Lost all the work I did making a jungle habitat yesterday June 12.  This morning, after I realized what happened, I didn't want to keep building, but I made a few changes, logged out and logged back in and those changes are still there.  But, I am not sure I trust the system to redo everything I did yesterday!

I'm having the same issue. I don't have times I was playing or anything, but my friends and I lost like 3 or 4 hours of work. We figured it was just a one-time fluke, so we continued playing, and lost another hour of work. :/

Adding my comment to note that this happened to me as well yesterday, June 12. Played for an hour or two on my realm and logged out, came back shortly after, logged in again and nothing had saved. Figured it was a blip so just redid some things and played again for an hour or two and logged out. Logged in this morning and it is back in the same spot as previously.

Yeah, I've lost multiple hours of work over the last day and a half from my realm resetting (several times). I had hoped it was one-and-done issue the first time it happened, but now after repeating my work and it getting wiped several times I'm afraid to do anything of substance in game.

this is affecting me as well, extremely discouraging... 

This affected me a yesterday, erased ~10 hours of work and kind of ruined my weekend (I did like 5 hours of work, it got erased, I re-did it thinking it was a one time thing, logging off and on multiple times, but then later that night it was erased, so I got a double dose). If it can't be recovered, oh well, but I'm not going to play until you guys fix it, just paid (on the 8th) for a renewed subscription so...hoping this can be worked out soon.

Did a test where I moved to a new location during my lunch break just to see if it saved it and now after work, seems like it did. Still holding out until the issue is marked resolved, not keen on wasting time anymore haha

I've had the same issue twice.  The first time I thought it was a one-time bug, so last night (June 12th) I logged out and back in every 30 minutes or so and it seemed like it was saving progress.  Logged out for the last time around 10pm, and just logged in again today (June 13th) around 8:15pm.  About half of my progress has been lost from last night, and some of that progress I had confirmed by logging out and back in.

I was experiencing this issue yesterday (06/12/2022) and it started saving again after midnight. Now, my friends and I have been playing on our realm and the game hasn't saved in about 2.5 hours which has be concerned. We've completed a lot in the last 2..5 hours and it would be awful for us to lose it all.

Last save was 6:33 pm (PST) on 06/13/2022 and it's currently 9:00pm (PST) and the game has not saved.

It worked for several hours yesterday, but then started again around 8pm central time last night. We didn't notice so we again lost 4 hours of stuff.

Quit my realms subscription and bought a new server from a hosting website...

mojang had so much time to at least say something 😞

Day 3 of the issue..lost SOOOO much progress. So beyond bummed and annoyed. Hope this can be resolved soon so I can actually play while its my time off.

Yeah, same here, several hours of effort rolled back; very aggravating that this can't be managed better.  Not the first time we've seen this bug.

This started happening to us 2 days ago, played for 4+ hours and then logged off for the night, it was gone in the morning. We ended up resetting the realm yesterday - played for another 2+ hours and when we logged in today it was as though we never played.

Are Realms servers being dynamically assigned causing the loss of local autosaves?

Just confirmed, while there were some saves yesterday (06-13-22) it did not save at the end. I've have to turn off my realm for now, because I don't want my players logging in and losing all of their work.

Still happening as of 6/14 10PM central time. Unbelievably crushing feeling to lose so much progress.

I'd like to add in that what caused this to happen for me was playing on one computer and then switching to another one in <5 minutes. I could do anything on the first computer and it seemed to save, but the second computer is what seemed to cause it to "forget". Checked this morning though and movement and minor building I had done a day ago was still there on both computers, so..tentatively it's okay?

This issue has been going on for 3 days now. So much progress lost. I really hope it's fixed by the end of the week. Disappointing that we pay for Realms subscription just to face issues that render them unplayable for some time.

This occurred to me five days ago. My friend and I got on around 16:00 and played until 18:00 hours.

My friend continued playing and logged out at 20:00.

When I logged back in at 21:00, progress had been reset to 18:50. I checked the log and saw the backups had several hours (1-6) between them:

At 21:00 I continued playing, trying to restore our progress and I logged off at 22:00. I immediately closed out Minecraft completely, restarted the game, and logged back in and the world had again reset to 18:50.

I turned off the filter for the profanity moderation in minecraft.net and it seems to be backing up again. Is there any chance that was the cause?

Issue was with services being offline. Sorry for the inconvenience.

I'm still suffering from this issue, most recent case of chunk resetting occurred today.
