Ender pearl interaction with bubble columns is broken

The behaviour of how ender pearls interact with bubble columns has been altered in snapshot 24w37a, breaking previously possible ender pearl stasis chamber designs. Previously, ender pearls were capable of interacting with upwards and downwards bubble columns at the same time, cancelling out the momentum, and allowing ender pearls to float in place between them. 24w37a introduced changes to ender pearls that have broken this interaction, which I believe is unintended as it breaks previously possible designs in the community.

Steps to reproduce:

  1. Place a magma block and soul sand block next to each other underwater, to create two opposing bubble columns right next to each other, 2 blocks high each.

  2. Stand right in between both bubble columns, and throw an ender pearl straight down.

  3.  In 1.21.1, the ender pearl would get suspended in stasis. In 24w37a, the ender pearl ignores the bubble columns and teleports you down to the floor

I've attached videos showcasing the difference between versions.

I've proceeded to do some more tests, and I've gained some new insight. It seems like ender pearls are in fact interacting as they should, but some bug is forcing them down more than before. I've attached some new images showcasing what I found. It seems as though all ender pearls get forced two blocks below where they previously would have stopped.

As seen in both the 4 block tall bubble column, and the 5 block tall bubble column, ender pearls now seem to stop consistently 3 blocks below where it was thrown (2 blocks below where they would originally in 1.21.1). This explains why the original functionality no longer works in the original design, as the pearls would have tried to stop below ground.

Considering the difference between versions is 2 blocks, I suspect this may have something to with some change in the snapshot now making calculations with reference to the player's feet, instead of with reference to the player's head as it did previously (although this is merely speculation)

I'll await confirmation as to whether this is an intentional change, which would be very disappointing.
