The new debug settings menu does not open on Mac keyboards, which is inconsistent with how other debug keybinds work on Macs. Ordinarily, the normal debug screen does not open when pressing F3 only, but does open when pressing fn + F3. This is true of all other debug keybinds as well. However, the F3 + F5 menu does not open even when pressing fn + F3 + F5. Note that this is not simply because 2 different function keys are involved, as the F3 + F4 gamemode switcher works as usual.

After testing it myself with Fluor disabled I discovered that certain Fn+F#+F5 combos are invalidated by the OS- so,for example, Fn+F3 works fine, but when I then also press F5, it removes my F3 input and causes all function keys to have the system function again.
[media]The issue only occurs when F# is F1, F2, F3, F6, F7, F8 or F10; otherwise; the inputs work as expected.
This is super strange. I looked through all the keyboard shortcuts and could not find anything about this, and a quick web search did not yield any results either. It’s as if this is baked into the OS.
So as far as I can tell, if you want to use F3+F5 in Minecraft on macOS while maintaining the function keys' system behavior (Mission Control, brightness/volume adjustments, etc.) in other apps, you must use Fluor or equivalent software.
It’s interesting to note that if you use System Settings > Keyboard > Keyboard Shortcuts > Function Keys > Use function keys as standard function keys, the F3+F5 combo works as intended. It’s only the combo fn+F3+F5 that doesn’t seem to work. As previously noted, fn+F3+F4 and F3+F4 work as intended.
Yeah that setting is the other way of avoiding this issue, but Fluor is superior because it works per-app rather than across the whole system.
Please edit your report to change the Affected Version to the version shown on the Minecraft title screen
This is invalid, something else is intercepting the F5 (or Fn+F5) input so Minecraft never receives it. Look in System Settings > Keyboard > Keyboard Shortcuts, most likely you will be able to find and disable the offending action.
Regardless of whether or not it works out that simply, if you’re looking to play Minecraft on a Mac it is almost required to:
Install Fluor
Launch Minecraft
In the menu bar, click the Fluor icon, then choose “Running applications..”
Search for “java”
Change the selection from “=” to “fn”
This will make F1, F2, etc. work as standard function keys when Minecraft is the active application, meaning you can for example simply press F3 to toggle the debug screen. (You will of course have to hold down Fn to access system functionality, such as changing brightness or volume, while playing.)
