Relates to MC-166292 and MC-307980.
If an ender pearl has a fox assigned as its owner, and that ender pearl then hits a block, the teleportation sound is correctly played, however if captions are turned on we see an inappropriate subtitle: “Player teleports” - this implies that the sound event entity.player.teleport is played, rather than the correct existing sound event entity.fox.teleport (currently only used for chorus fruit).
Unless your name is Fundy or Zylenox, the 2019 memo still stands: in case it isn’t obvious, foxes aren’t players.
To reproduce:
make sure captions are switched on if they aren’t already
throw an ender pearl
before this ender pearl collides with a block, run this command: /execute as @n[type=ender_pearl] at @s run data modify entity @s Owner set from entity @n[type=fox] UUID
be close to the ender pearl before it collides with a block
Expected results: we would see “Fox teleports” in the subtitles.
Actual results: we incorrectly see “Player teleports” in the subtitles, despite no player teleporting.
