I have split this specific case from MC-171366 following the triage of MC-312766 and MC-312767. Relates to MC-123350 and MC-197137.
When the block below a block that requires support is removed, the block plays its breaking sound to indicate that it has been broken alongside its support. This rule has applied to a vast majority of blocks since 1.13, however fire (and, by extension, soul fire) seems to be an exception to this rule, even though it should not be.
Easily reproducible:
place fire
break the fire directly
listen
place more
break the block under the fire
listen again
Expected results: when a fire block ceases to exist, an extinguishing sound should be made to indicate this.
Actual results: oftentimes fire will just disappear silently instead if you indirectly break it.
To fix: fire extinguishing, to act more like a standard block breaking sound, should always play if the block loses support.
