Pausing the game not working correctly

I was playing on the new snapshot, when I pressed "esc" to do something else on internet. I didn't close the world where I was playing. The time stopped, as usual, but when I came back on the world the game decided to accelerate the time I spent and I saw the moon riing in 1/2 second, monsters walking at the speed of light, and the 2 minutes I spent on the internet happened in a few seconds.
I'm sorry if I don't speak perfectly english, I'm french 😉

happens to me too

CubeTheThird

Can confirm.

Being paused for a while will also produce massive lag.

galaxy_2alex

Might be intended, allthough I doubt it very heavily.

Ben Ritter

This will also cause you to die if you do this when mobs are tracking you. They will all hit you at once. Can confirm with great dismay.

David Harmon

This is a dealbreaker for me, I just set my profile to stay with 39b until 41b or later comes out.

Ezekiel

Galaxy due to the nature of it, I believe it is a bug. If it simply didn't pause it that would be another thing.

Sciger

This just happened to me. I AFKed from Minecraft when a package came irl for me. I came back probably 45 minutes later to try and mine more obsidian. The obsidian blocks weren't popping like they should. A few seconds later, I was hearing a boatload of skeletons and I was instantly dead. All my items appeared to have despawned as well. Pity, I had 50 obsidian.

Watched a second incident of this bug. I was AFK in my house for a while. When I came back, I looked out the window and watched my villagers spaz out with seriously sped up time. I watched one full day and one full night go by at lightning speed, in about 30 seconds.

Ezekiel

I just want to remind everyone this is a snapshot so things will be broken, possibly world corrupting. Do not use the snapshots if you are not willing to deal with these issues.

Sciger

Ofc Ezekiel, quite expected from snapshots. Any little change with each one always has a chance of breaking something. 🙂 As a matter a fact, just found another possible generation bug I'm about to report if it hasn't been reported already. XD

Remember to back up worlds or start new worlds before you run them in snapshots

Adam

I think what is needed is a post from the DEVs confirming this is a bug and that it will go away in a future snapshot. People who understand snapshots need to deal with issues like this but the DEVs need to respond to them too. Unless of course it goes away very quickly. Like today maybe! I can only hope. I backed up to 13w39b as well because of this bug and the other one where "Rendered chunks" has a max of 8 now and not 16. Both are deal breakers for me.

CubeTheThird

@Adam, in case you haven't noticed, this bug has already been listed a fixed for the next shapshot.

Ezekiel

Adam, the rendering chunks issue actually was in 39b for me as well, even though I could set it higher.

Adam

@Ezekiel, No I missed that it is fixed. Would that be in this entry where it says Fixed Version: "Future Version - 1.7"? I need to look at that field more often if that is the place to look. Thanks.

Ezekiel

If you look at the Status field you can see it has gone from Open (or in some cases, Reopened) to Resolved. The resolution is marked as fixed (I don't think we use resolution for anything else, though), and the version which it was fixed in is in the fixed versions.

George Griffiths

Can confirm with great dismay, makes this snapshot unplayable from my point of view. Gutted as was looking forward to working with the new stained glass.

Ezekiel

George, its fixed. Just use the latest snapshot.

David Harmon

Indeed, it is fixed in 13w41b! Huzzah!
