Render distance slider can be set only to 8 chunks instead of 16 as in 13w39b. Might be intentional for 32-bit systems as previously Far was meant for 64-bit Java. I don't have 64-bit OS, so I'm not sure whether it's a bug or not.

Current workaround: change the options.txt, if you set it to any amount higher that 8, it will still work AND show it in the game.

Just to be clear here, In my 13w41b, the render distance slider can be set to 16 chunks, but in the actual game, the terrain is only rendered out 8 chunks. I even switched back to 1.6.3 with Render Distance: Far to check and it renders farther out than 13w41b

Can confirm on 64-bit with 64-bit Java on Windows 8.
