The red lava overlay fades from level 32 downwards.

When immersed in lava the red overlay loses it's opacity from 32 downwards until there is no red left and it just looks slightly dim.

To reproduce:
1. Nerd hole down to the bedrock.
2. Place lava at y: 32.
3. Wait for the lava to reach the bottom.
4. Descend.

Same darkening you get when mining to bedrock in overworld?

As in void fog?

Probably due to a clash with the void fog yes, but still, its a bit weird.

There shouldn't be any fog in liquid, in water it should be murky water.

I'm sure 'void fog' isn't literally supposed to represent a fog in the air, so much as the darkness of the depths. Same way 'fog of war' in RTS type games doesn't represent actual fog, and is just a gameplay thing. In that context, having it within lava and water isn't so consistent.

Cannot reproduce in the latest version of minecraft

I am getting this in 14w29b. I think. I'll have to do some more testing.

In 14w29b I am unable to reproduce in testing worlds. However, I can confirm in a world that I am teaching my niece to play Minecraft on. First picture I'm going to add is from that world and where the bug is present, and second picture is in a testing world.
